Gush About Tropers You Like

Go To

(I'm not sure where this really belongs, so I'm putting it in YF for now. Mods, feel free to move it to Forum Games if you think it fits better there.)

The point of this thread is to list your favorite tropers and say what makes you like them so much. Please be specific; we already have Gushing About Shows You Like if you want to gush about TV Tropes or the Forums in general.

EDIT: Chopped the list because it's now quite outdated, and there are some comments in here that only made sense back in 2009 and may have even been a bit creepy.

You know who you are!

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.

I love that Nornagest guy. He always seems so in-control.

Like a 40-year-old English man who always has control of the situation and talks very politely.

Or something.

I forget where I was going with that.

Oh, yes, Nornagest is wise and very dry.

If you're going for Elizabethan English, I think the correct tense is "hath". Don't quote me on that, though.

And it's not such a big deal, really. I just have issues with *dere.

I'm not sure what I think about Norn. I like him, but he always felt so distant and unrelatable...I don't quite have this clear image of who he is here.

I love the dere tropes, but I dislike applying them to real people.

Oh, damn. I knew I should have taken that class on Elizabethan English.

Usage of the term *dere, or the concept of *dere?

^^ Yes, you.

I consider certain tropers like siblings, actually.

I don't know Norn well enough to like or dislike him.

i don't want to make a list of tropers i like, it'd be a lot easier (and a lot shorter) to make one of those i don't, but that would be a very bad idea. So i'll do neither.

and by the way, if you're concerned that you're on my dislike list, you aren't.

I want an image of his personality. The things he likes and dislikes. How he generally reacts to things. I don't have that. I don't know him. As such I lack an image.

I was wrong a minute ago, so I wiped what was here. Though, I was right that "thou" gets the "-th" ending.

That was a reference to Yugioh Abridged, btw

I consider the forum's Jumped the Shark moment to be when Nornagest disappeared for a while. We still had Arilou, but the place felt... stupider.
