Apparently what happened was someone was playing 3D and the Young Xehanort boss fight started and he was just sort of. Not there.
Which lead to the idea of him showing up late to the boss fight because he's a shitty teen that needs coffee.
Which lead to Ben Diskin getting a new twitter icon.
Which lead to him saying a line from one of the fanarts on his soundcloud.

he would actually be appropriate for a number of reasons:
- his shtick is that he's a weapon collector looking for excalibur but who picks up a bunch of other stuff. Predictably he would interested in Sora's keyblade and want to fight him for it.
- He's a world traveller so he can fit pretty much in any world you want.
- He was actually designed by Nomura although his design was finalized by Yoshida. Even then Nomura himself has drawn gilgamesh before for FFVIII as well.
basically he's the perfect FF Bonus Boss and I'm kind of surprised he hasn't been included yet.
