I reserve my right to judge her until she does... anything, really. She's just sorta been... there. Not done anything funny, not done anything interesting, just sorta existing. Even other characters playing off her have been pretty standard ("Oh hohohohoho! Why, she disassembled Pintsize after he said something inappropriate! How very novel!".

She's got potential. A lot of potential. But so far she hasn't done anything to make me like or dislike her.

She's intimidating, to be sure, but menacing? I'm not seeing it.

Only theoretical threat I see is that she could potentially misjudge some sort of playful fight or argument situation and then seriously injure one of the parties involved, but I doubt that the comic would take such a sudden turn for the darker.

Yes, the comic ''never'' takes a sudden turn for the darker.

Though honestly yeah, I don't see that happening. They're doing just fine with standard "Not fitting in" angst.

Also, I'm pretty sure that he meant she was intimidating, not that she was a menace. The guy did say "looks like."

I think she's just hurt and lashing out because of that. Said lashing-out is being done by a tall-ass military-grade combat robot, so it's definitely going to be a rough, intimidating time for whoever's on the receiving end.

Her behavior rn is menacing, but I think it comes from insecurity and pain at not being able to fit in.

...God, that sounds like a lecture being given to primary school kids about not judging books by their cover. I have become the thing that I hate most in this world.

I have to say I'm on Bubbles' side on this one. Yes this was a dangerous overreaction but I can't help but notice that Bubbles was leaving and clearly and Faye followed her. The latter move is INCREDIBLY disrespectful and when someone is trying to leave a situation that makes them uncomfortable, chances are that they do so PRECISELY to avoid something like this happening.

Not to mention that despite Faye inviting her to presumably help her break out of her shell, she immediately ditched her all by herself and tried to foist her on Marten. It's stuff like this that makes me wonder why the hell anyone puts up with Faye.

Manic Pixie Dream Girl Faye.

But really, they both dropped the ball. Faye should've spent more time with Bubbles, as she's the only one Bubbles knows there. But Bubbles did an awful job at being anything but standoffish and was knowingly rude at times.

... and punching a hole in the wall is really unacceptable even if her leaving and getting upset at being followed was fine.

faye has her redeeming factors.

i won't say that i am too happy with how the situation turned out, especially if faye wants to keep working on battlebots; if she's trying to cope with her drinking issues, being on bad terms with her coworker e that situation really bad really fast.

I don't think she was standoffish and rude intentionally. She said that she's not comfortable around people and needed Faye to coax her into going in the first place, and when she got there she had a bad time.

I think Faye asking Marten to talk to her was an attempt at making her feel better, too. As bad of a move that was, it was done with the best of intentions.

And as far as punching the wall - she thought that she was going to have a bad time, Faye got her to come, and she had as bad of a time as she thought she would. I'd feel pretty frustrated in that situation. Not to mention that she's a battlebot - combat is how she thinks. It wasn't responsible or safe, but I see why she did it.

Sorry, no, she was super rude to everybody. There's a whole strip full of various characters doing their best to be friendly, and while they mostly fail at it, they still tried.

She showed up with a bad attitude, expecting to not enjoy it, and as a result she didn't enjoy it.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree. We're all familiar with various levels of social anxiety. At some point, it stops being other people's responsability to make you feel sociable.

Remember, though it was framed humourously, her first action upon entering Marten's home was to lift him by the collar and growl menacingly. Yes, some of the comments she received were less than tactful, but then again she didn't really make much of an effort to ask them about anything either.

Being antisocial and standofish is one thing, but actually physically threatening someone who wanted to be your friend? That's messed up.

Faye should't have insisted and I hope this serves as a lesson to her, but Bubbles was really out of order.

All that being said, I still have sympathy for her. That comment about dead comarades was really telling. Maybe she suffers from some AI-version of PTSD.

And you do get into the question of how much of who she is has been programmed in her. I know, it's kind of like excusing someone for domestic violence because that's what they grew up in, but A.I.s always seem to have had at least a little predetermination going on.
