He was still from the past though. I did wonder what happened when I saw all those PETs in the Dream Island scrap heap, like, were all the pre-Star Force Navis eventually retired for being obsolete (like they hit a networking-equivalent to the Singularity or something?) or do they still exist somewhere as data within a massive archive? Makes you think, what does happen to a Navi when their operator dies and there's no one to pass it on to?
I assume the Navi would go solo, Mick's Navi in BN 6 briefly went away after they had a fight so it shows that the Navi isn't bound to the PET unless he's connected into something by a human.
You did make me wonder if there's some sort of virtual area where the Navis live in Starforce. I never actually played that series so I don't quite understand what happened with the Navis in there.
In Star Force 1 Navis were still around, but they seemed to be only used for very specific, basic functions, like delivering email and operating door locks. There were some generic ones too that didn't seem to have any special functions at all, like the generic Normal Navis in the old games.
Then they were completely absent in Star Force 2, but then Star Force 3 went ahead and introduced Wizards, which essentially had the same role that Navis did in Battle Network, though they hadn't been around long enough yet to be quite as highly specialized.

They became Cyber Elves? Net Elves if you will.
(I've been playing the Zero Collection ALOT)
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Net Ghosts. Old net navis that have wandered the ne for so long that their code no longer resembles its original format in any way shape or form. Most are harmless, but some had developed quirks that resulted in a level of consciousness and capabilit never intended for them.
Just spitballing, but that sounds like a decent Cyber Elf analogue.
I'm trying to get every single animal/plant/fungus Maverick into Akinator. So far I've only got most of the X1-X4 and X8 bosses in, and a few X5 bosses (Grizzly, Skiver, Mattrex). Anyone care to help add in the rest?
...ehehI've found a kid on youtube who says "fuck" a lot.
Having a blast playing through X8.
Anyone know of any enhancements for X8? The YMMV tab says such things exist, though I can't seem to focus my Google-fu hard enough, and by chance, any ones that allow you to change all the keys? Of all the keys that don't work on my keyboard, it had to be the RIGHT ARROW KEY. *sigh*
If you're asking how I'm still playing it then...well...
Thinking of giving Mega Man Legends another go. I mean, it was my very first Mega Man game that I rented as a kid (probably because of the cartoon), and a couple of years ago I had a huge blast with the N64 port (didn't clear it, though), but now I'm considering making a serious go at the original PSX version.
Define "enhancements".
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Is Battle Network a good game? It's on the Wii U right now and I'm thinking about getting it. I never played any games in this series so I don't really know what to expect.
They're pretty fun RP Gs and have a pretty unique action-based battle system, but as a word of warning, the first game was a GBA launch title and it really shows its age at times. It's clunkier than the others since the battle system hadn't been fully refined yet, but if it's your first time ever playing the series it does a decent job of introducing most of the mechanics. It's very much a beta for the rest of the series, really.
I enjoyed Battle Network a lot.
I found it pretty fun but like all megaman series it has trouble with creativity later on.
Besides, Star Force is a million times better than any of the Battle Network games anyways.
But wasn't Starforce a lot less popular too?
One Strip! One Strip!Yes. It got canned after only three games. The only other Mega Man series that bombed like that was the Legends series.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.No, Legends didn't even get to 3.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I was counting the Misadventures of Tron Bonne.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Didn't ZX bomb even further?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Right. Forgot. That died after two games.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. So far I like Battle Network although the internet sections could really use a damn map. This is a 16 bit game. There's no excuse for leaving that out.
Another reason why Star Force is infinitely superior...It doesn't use a map mind you, but the areas are much less of a pain to navigate.
A lot of 16 bit RP Gs lacked maps so that's not any reason it should have one.
Oh right, forgot about that.
