In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Decided to give up drinking for a month. Well, I decided it at the beginning of the month and am now at 2 weeks. Feels kinda nice.
@Raspy I've received steroid injection for herniated discs in the past. (Only mine was in my lower back) It's really not too bad. The worst part is the injection itself but that's over in a few minutes, and then the worst side effect I got was some minor pain at the injection site for a few days. And then after that I felt much better. There's really not much that can go wrong with an injection like that. Maybe it won't be as effective as you'd like, but it certainly won't cause more damage. It's just a glorified painkiller, really

What inspired that idea?
I like to keep my audience riveted. So, I have started streaming Let's Play videos, and I have it set up to stream to both Twitch and You Tube at the same time, so, if anyone wants to watch me, I'm olivedknight on both. I am not sure if I want to play Bioshock Infinite or something else tonight.
IDK I am trying to get viewers because I have been doing odd jobs, and maybe streaming will give me revenue some day?
You streaming to both platforms on your end, or streaming to a third party that syndicates it there?
Fresh-eyed movie blogI am streaming to a third party that streams it to both at the same time, yes.
Sounds like the sensible way. You'd need double the upload bandwidth the other way.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThanks, Deme.
I went to the viewing last night. I've known a lot of people who have died over the years, but this one hit harder than most. Knowing her six year old twins are going to grow up without their mother who loved kids so much, and hearing one of them read the goodbye letter she wrote to them didn't make it any easier.
RIP, Heather.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |Oh my goodness The Wanderer, I hadn't even read your post. I'm so sorry for your loss
We're here for you.
I like to keep my audience riveted. The Wanderer, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm thinking of those twins today...they have each other, which is something special, but it's not Mom.
So. I was supposed to have a steroid injection in my neck yesterday. I went to the spine center, got all checked in, changed into a hospital gown, nurse started a line, whatever.
The procedure started. The doctor said, “You’ll feel a pinch, here comes the needle.”
I felt a pinch…and then excruciating pain. My entire arm was made out of pain at that point and it felt super heavy. WTF!
So, they stopped. The doctor and the nurses reassured me. They said they’d add the lidocaine and that would make things numb.
The pain happened again! And this time I felt sick, too, the kind where I wasn’t sure whether I was going to lose consciousness or my breakfast but couldn’t quite articulate any of it.
They stopped the whole procedure and took the needle out. Apparently, my muscles are ridiculously tight and irritated, so the needle caused a muscle spasm, and…also a vasovagal response? And some legit 10/10 pain where it hurts so bad that all I can do is scream and cry and swear.
I have to go back next Thursday to go under IV sedation and get the injection that way.
And I still have the headache and sore neck from yesterday morning, I was really hoping to get rid of those.
I just have to hold out for one more week, take muscle relaxers every night, and get it done under IV sedation. (And also not die. I get very scared of dying whenever I go under sedation, even though it's never killed me before.)

I like to keep my audience riveted.Did they put the needle right where a nerve is? I had steroid injections right on my sciatic nerves and the pain was intense. And it shot all the way down both my legs. But I was told that was normal. Other parts of my back weren't as bad
Ouch, Raspy, sounds like they must have gotten you right in a nerve all right. (Kind of hard to avoid in the neck, and since that's also where the entire CNS is tying itself together, taking input from all over the body and transmitting the brain's messages throughout the body... I'd rather not think about how you felt.)
Sorry you had to go through that. Do you know if they're putting under general anesthesia or just local next time? Also, I hope it goes better for you.
And thanks to everyone who expressed condolences, it's greatly appreciated.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |Thanks. I'll be under general anesthesia next time, which is always nervewracking...but, on the other hand, my muscles should be looser and I'll have beaucoup pain meds on board.
I don't know WTF happened, but hitting a nerve seems like it would make sense. I also had a muscle spasm, one that I'm still dealing with. Counting down until Robaxin:30! (Which will obviously be when I'm done working and driving)
Speaking of the human body, you're not going to believe this. I went to put on some more sunscreen since I'm working outside, and there was a small stain on my left arm that looked a bit like blood, even though the skin on my arm is perfectly fine.
I like to keep my audience riveted. If you don't mind saying, is it just like a collection of small red dots, or is it a solid blot?
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |It looked like a solid (albeit faint) blot. And it felt kind of liquid when I wiped it off.
I like to keep my audience riveted.Huh, interesting. When you mentioned it I was thinking that maybe it was a bit of petechia, purpura, or even ecchymosis, (helpful picture◊) which can be caused by leakage from small capillaries. It doesn't take much to cause them, sometimes they show up after things like having blood drawn or an injection for example, and some people tend to get petechia on a pretty consistent basis. I was hoping could set your mind at ease about it.
Any chance you swatted a bug or something without even thinking about it, and it had a bunch of blood in it?

I just finished another book on my reading list: Watchmen.
I like to keep my audience riveted.
What did you think of it? Were you spoiled on the ending before reading?
Been picking up so many network administration tasks lately that my job description has started to mutate from programmer to sysop. Fun to see the infrastructure side of things for once, at least.
Thanks!
Congratulations and good luck. It really does take a village to raise a child.
