In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Back from the dance. No 19th century folk, but a couple from the future, as well as a boy and his box. Day more than made.
Blog linkThere was a frat party last night. I stayed in my dorm and played Cards Against Humanity like a good girl. As good as you can get playing Cards Against Humanity, anyway.
Looking for some stories?Aw, where's the fun in that? I've been drunk off my arse partying three times this week, and Ive only been tutoring the freshmen.

There is no fun in parties.
At least for someone like me.
In what most people would consider "Parties" anyway.
I just don't like dancing or INCREDIBLY LOUD SHITTY POP MUSIC.
Sorry I still have the memory of my cousin's wedding in my head.
I swear the volume was at least 25 there.
I seriously walked out of the building where we were eating just to not hear that thing. And it's not me that doesn't like all pop-music I just hated just about anything they put there.
Also did I mention it was loud?

Today on Inherently Funny Words: KLAPPSPATEN (German for foldable shovel).

dead devotionMakes for an excellent insult too.
A different shape every step I take A different mind every step of the lineParties are great, as long as there are distinct dancing areas and chatting areas.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'I've gotten too old for parties, I think. These days it's mostly private gatherings for me.
When I say 'parties' I mostly mean house parties or weddings or birthdays, that kind of thing.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'Oh, Ho-Oh-HOOOOOOOooooooooooo...
It's Kung Fu Friday... on a Saturday, and The Synchtube Troper Coven are putting out the Shaw Brothers epic Return of the Bastard Swordsman for the delight of everyone.
But first, swing by for the usual Godfrey Ho grab bag variety and some other high-chopping, fast-kicking nonsense, English-dubbing nonsense.

Might as well, since I was currently watching The36th Chamber Of Shaolin anyway. Kung fu movies are fungible goods.
Return of the Bastard Swordsman really is the best title.
Well, time to study for English class. By which I mean eat a whole carton of ice cream and watch A New Hope. No, seriously, our assignment this weekend is to watch A New Hope.
Looking for some stories?Your English class is rad.
dead devotionBetter than reading a long, boring Doorstopper like 100 Years of Solitude, that's for sure.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300And later we get to watch two episodes of Buffy, an episode of Supernatural and Inception.
Looking for some stories?Raddest.
dead devotionI could not get through 100 Years of Solitude. I was only a few chapters in when my class finished the book and moved on, I renewed it the maximum number of times and I was only a little more than halfway through when I ultimately had to return it to the library, and my class agreed with the professor that whatever twist in the end that made it all worthwhile to her the first time wasn't as satisfying as she remembered.
It's like reading a century's worth of soap opera recaps. There's nothing compelling about a list of events, torrid though they may be.

Fresh-eyed movie blogI was never too fond of Weird Al Yankovic, but I found this song and I'm rather impressed...
Reminds me of something I heard in a video game...I think the deep background singing sounds like something from Halo.

Of all his original songs, that one's my favorite.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...My chest really hurts. So do my back and sides; I've pulled muscles all over the place from coughing.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'A 3V cable in my XCOM backpack snapped off. I had to solder it back on, and it was a bit troublesome.
Now I'm waiting for the paint on a support block to dry, then I'll have to drill the holes for it and screw it to the backboard.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisJones, you think about going to the doctor?
It takes something very special to Kung Fu Friday, and boy, do we have just that. At the top of the coming hour, as the timestamp on this post indicates, The Synchtube Troper Coven are jumping into THE science fiction disasterpiece of the 1990's—Johnny Mnemonic; "Johnny Moronic", more like it...
Oh, it will be amazing.
But first up, we got the next episode of Lexx.
