In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

I never learned how to drive standard... My dad bailed on the instruction process after one lesson.
My driving school had a big hole in the corner patched up while I was there. Apparently a new graduate from the previous session was leaving from getting her education signed off on, and while trying to drive off, mixed up drive and reverse, and floored it.
Fresh-eyed movie blogManual transmission master race here.
(kind of sleepy)
Hey guys. |3
I'm in your fanfiction, correcting your spelling.Since we get most of our cars from the USA, broken down and dispirited. Yes. yes they are.
Oh, look! Buri!
Hi~
-hugs-
MUST ADOPT
I feel manlier than Rigo (for that little moment). Never thought to say that.
Programming and surgery have a lot of things in common: Don't start removing colons until you know what you're doing.Automatic car? Like, the kind where you just put the key in to start it instead of turning it? Those are neat.
Hey, Inhopelessguy! How goes?

^^He means one with an automatic transmission. What you're thinking of is called push-start, I think.

"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific Mackerel@ burinnu:
No, ones with Automatic gearboxes, where you don't have a use a clutch to change gear (otherwise known as Driving Stick in the US).
On something completely unrelated, I'm off to Bed.

Keep Rolling OnOn my first day of driver's ed, I stepped on the gas instead of the break while getting into line with the other cars. Fortunately I maneuvered away, but they didn't let me drive alone after that.
What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.@ Buri. I am good. ^__^
You can call me "Hopey", "Hope", "Guy" or any other shortening if you so wish. "Inhopelessguy" is only a choice for you.
How are you?
@Hope: I'm fine, just busy, a little stressed ATM, and a little tired.
@Rocket Dude and Greenmantle: Oh. I don't know much about cars. :P
@Zyxzy: ME TOOOO XD

I'm in your fanfiction, correcting your spelling.Usually people go for "Hopey". Odd.
Ahh. I hope you don't feel so stressed in the future!
Also, -adopts Buri-
YOU ARE NOW MY SISTER.
Debating whether or not I should try to stay up for 60 hours this weekend.
On that matter the car I'm driving, when I do, is a bit weak on the horsepower side, so you actually stall the motor in first gear if you're just driving with the clutch.

...Mind if I ask why this exists? I ain't complaining, just curious.
I'm in your fanfiction, correcting your spelling.@ Buri. All those people are my family. I have such a diagram to keep track of the people I have in my family.
ALL OF THEM ARE YOU RELATIVES.
Also, you're my mother too. And I'll focus on that more on that, than the being my sister thing.
...
You are a girl, right?
Pretty sure, yeah. XD Also from the US, if that helps.
Man, as if a huge Irish family wasn't hard enough to keep track of...XD

When I was learning to drive, this is the anecdote that stuck with me most:
out of my dad. It was a manual transmission truck. I had it in first and
tried to shift, but the timing on the clutch was fucked up and it just
spun, but the pedal was lighter then I thought and I floored it. The
truck sounded like it was doing 90 and my nervous laugh sounded maniacal.
He just screamed "NOOOOOOOOOO!" as we moved about 1/2 mile an hour...
he drove home.
