Night lords. They're evil Batman.

Also, the Mentor Legion from way back when, because their deal is pretty interesting, being that they get to field test all the new toys and can be seconded to other chapters. They're pretty cool even if their paint job is pug-ugly.

When in deadly danger, when beset by doubt, run in little circles, wave your arms and shout.

Serious: Iron Warriors. The color scheme is just badass, and I made a rather shameless Loyalist knockoff of it (combined with a Imperial Roman legions motif) in the form of the Legionnaires:

Non-serious: Pretty Marines/Reasonable Marines. I'm not sure which one is the more amusing subversion of 40k Space Marines.

Salamanders. They strike me as being some of the nicer people in W H40k, the colour scheme is great, they have interesting lore, and they have glowing red eyes.

Could someone explain to me what these 'Pretty Marines' and 'Reasonable Marines' are please?

They are /tg/-created fan chapters. More like memes than like real chapters, I guess.

Ultramarines. They're ultra and marines..... by the logics of grammer, they're ULTRA-AWESOME MARINES!

Erm... no I don't... I was just using ubsurd logic to come to a conclusion that I had already determined by just going with the most bland and obvious choice I knew: Ultramarines

One of many, of course.

They're the most generic Space Marines, which makes fans of the other chapters resent seeing them EVERYWHERE.

I'm always kind of annoyed at that.

Yes, they are everywhere BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST GENERIC. That's what MAKES them generic damn it.

And the Imperium Will Fall before the Greater Good!

Blood Angels.

Followed closely by the Space Wolves.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Raven Guard. They seem to be about the closes subversion to Honour Before Reason that I've encountered among the space marine chapters. Also they're pale and I just dig the whole hit & run aesthetic.

On the Chaos side I prefer Death Guard. Cool looking armour, nice backstory & primarch. Also Nurgle is probably my favourite major Chaos god.

For the Loyalists, I'd say Imperial Fists. For the Traitor Legions, World Eaters.

Reasonable Marines are simply Alpha Legion

CAN'T YOU SEE THE HERESY

Space Wolves, Salamanders, and Ultramarines. The only three chapters who actually remember they're meant to be the DEFENDERS of humanity.

After reading some 1d4chan regarding the false Marine chapters, I have to admit that I love the ANGRY MARINES, if only because they're ALWAYS ANGRY, ALL THE TIME!

In canon, I know too little about 40K to actually pick a side there.

Still need More Dakka, and it's about time to start a real WAAAAAGH.

^ You clearly don't know enough about 40k if you think you can just 'pick a side.

For me, Space Sharks.

wkcia, you forget the Raven Guard and the Gray Knights, both of whom are defenders of humanity through and through.

^^Seeing as how I know jack about 40K canon, no matter who I pick I would likely end up regretting it later. My entire knowledge of 40K comes from the Dawn of War series. And what I have read on the internets. But mostly Dawn of War.

Still need More Dakka, and it's about time to start a real WAAAAAGH.
