Nether Inversion 2WB

Enchantment

Players can't search libraries.

If a spell or ability would cause a permanent you control to be put into your graveyard from the battlefield, exile it instead.

If a spell or ability other than Nether Inversion would exile a permanent you control, instead shuffle it into your library.

Roaming Assembler (2W)
Creature - Artificer
2/2
Exploit
When ~ exploits a creature, put two 1/1 colourless Myr artifact creature tokens onto the battlefield.
The notion that another being may be worth more than its component parts is foreign to Phyrexia.

Some colour bleed but given what NPH looked like I think that's forgivable.

Soul Scramble - WB
Enchantment
Creatures with +1/+1 counters on them have Undying.
Creatures with -1/-1 counters on them have Persist.
Spells of life cancel one another out, leaving only death.

[up] That's exactly the point. It'd be completely bonkers the other way around - everything would always come back when it died. It's supposed to be useless. Though I'm hoping someone figures out a way to break it anyway.

  • 5 / 4

One of my go-to conversation starters with other Magic players is what would their Planeswalker card be. (That is, a card that represents them in terms of color, CMC, starting loyalty and abilities.)

Since you mention it, I decided to make a new version of mine, since I haven't for a long time.

Imp, Solitary Watcher 1W(W/U)B(B/R)
Planeswalker - Imp
Whenever a green card or land that produces green mana is on the battlefield under your control or in your graveyard, exile Imp.
+2: Reveal the top card of your library. If it's a noncreature, nonartifact card, draw a card and each player loses 2 life.
-3: Exile target planeswalker, artifact or non-mouse creature.
-7: You get an emblem with "All creatures are mice, lose all abilities, and have base power and toughness 1/1."

Improbable Disaster 5RRR
Sorcery
CARDNAME can't be countered.
Each player chooses a non-land permanent they control at random, then sacrifices all other non-land permanents they control. Permanents put into the graveyard this way are exiled instead.
Make something idiot-proof, and life will invent a better idiot.
Or, if you prefer...

Oops.

[up][up] I think that idea's been tossed around a few times, though I suppose it's always fun to re-examine it.

(Note that I came up with the name 'Jawmak Dnalast' as a planeswalker alias so I have something better/more natural to use than just "Space Jawa")

Jawmak Dnalast, Heroic Explorer RWWU
Planeswalker - Jawmak
+2: Deal 3 damage to target creature or player. If a creature dealt damage this way would be put into a graveyard this turn, exile it instead.
+1: Look at the top card of your library. If it's a colorless card, you may reveal it, then put it into your hand. If it's a Myr Artifact card, you may choose to instead cast that card without paying its mana cost. Otherwise, put that card on the top or bottom of your library.
-7: Gain an emblem with "At the beginning of your end step, put two colorless 3/3 Myr Angel artifact creature tokens with Flying onto the battlefield under your control." and "Non-black creatures you control have Double Strike, Hexproof, and Lifelink."
Jawmak Dnalast can be your Commander. You and permanents you control have protection from Black. Whenever B would be added to your mana pool, add 1 to your mana pool instead.

My planeswalker self, made mostly because I like both monoblack and vintage restricted cards.

Kascorak, Lord of the Forbidden - 3BBBB
Planeswalker - Kascorak
+1: Put a colorless artifact token named Mox Jet onto the battlefield. It has "{T}: Add {B} to your mana pool."
-2: Search your library for a card and put that card into your hand, then shuffle your library.
-7: You get an emblem with "Skip your draw step" and "Pay 1 life: draw a card."
~ can be your commander. When ~ enters the battlefield, if you didn't cast it from your hand or the command zone, sacrifice it. 3

I forgot to put a "can be your commander" clause on my planeswalker, but I think that's probably fitting for me, anyway...

[up][up]

It seems a bit overly complicated to me. But then, I never liked "have a specific kind (especially instants and sorceries) of card in your graveyard and this does a thing" effects.

I think it's difficult to balance this one in particular, since it's usually awkward enough to get cards into your graveyard in limited/standard (sets like So I being the exception) that it justifies them being quite powerful when that goes off, but so much easier to get off in constructed that I'd have a hard time deciding on a middle ground. As well, compared to emerge, it's much easier to put very high CMC cards in the graveyard, so that seems pretty broken. All that with flash as well... Idk. It just seems like an overwhelming mechanic to work with, both in complexity and power level.

[up] Commander is my favorite format (most the time, at least; when it's not being overrun by people who insist on doing everything they can to win without caring if anyone else gets a chance to actually play, let along have fun), so it seemed appropriate for me.

I can't find a remotely elegant way to word this, but I like the effect, so... yeah.

Symbiotic Relationship 2G
Enchantment
When Symbiotic Relationship enters the battlefield, choose two creature types.
Creatures of each type get +1/+1.
If you control both creature types, counting each creature only for one of their types, creatures of each type get +2/+2 instead. (If you were to choose human and soldier, a creature that is a human soldier would count only for one of those types. For this ability to work, you need two creatures, one of either type)

[down] Oh. Right... thanks.

Instant
Copy target instant or sorcery other than Intellectual Thievery. You may choose new targets for copies created with this spell.

[down][down] First, fixed. And second, looking at the stack rules, that seems to be a yes, since spells leave the stack after their effect is done. Also fixed.
