I'm calling BS on that one. Without checks you can't reveal his "real" name (I don't think so unless he's got a quest somewhere) and the others refer to him as that. Fifth one was a pain but yay for process of elimination.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Started a new game yesterday, though I'm only up to Primm. I installed Project Nevada on the advice of a friend, it's pretty good so far but I haven't run into any new weapons yet.
Probably going the House route, if only because I haven't done that one before.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Got two wrong. That Doctor O one tricked me and I walked right into it. The other one was Lanius. I could have sworn blind he was a Black Foot.
Got the Doctor 0 one wrong. Only one I got wrong, too.
(V)(;,,;)(V)I missed Lanius and the BoS one.
I only knew the Bo S one because I remembered the video they did on them. I don't think I watched the video on the "Legion".
So I'm almost done with Mr. House's route and have been doing sidequests. I despise the White Glove Society simply because their damn questline can be so frustrating to finish in a way that doesn't end with me slaughtering every single one of them. Plus their whole thing really seems to be "Upper class snob.", which doesn't help much.
Also, I've come to the conclusion that outside of maybe the Legendary Deathclaw, everything in Fallout: New Vegas can be solved with the Grenade Machinegun. It definitely saved me during the "Gather Deathclaw Eggs" part of the Thorn sidequest. The things my Courier does to get laid.

“I was thinking that work is like fertilizer in that I’m glad it exists; I just don’t ever want to get stuck in it."Man why you guys all railing on House.
Guy is the best guy out there :(
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesMr. House is my favourite route, I think he's the best bet for New Vegas, mostly because he actually knows what he's doing and has a plan for New Vegas beyond "Annex it, tax it heaps." or "Turn it into my Rome." or "Take over and who knows what'll happen?".
“I was thinking that work is like fertilizer in that I’m glad it exists; I just don’t ever want to get stuck in it."I have little faith in a man that wakes up to find the world of Fallout and builds casinos before he builds schools.
I'm always with the NCR. Long live the Republic
Oh really when?NCR (if certain sidequests are done right) is probably the best option for the Mojave to make realistic progress towards Old World stability and living standards. A good aligned Independent run gives a decent status quo minus a few asshole factions but probably won't bring any progress, there's only so much a heavily armed mailman can do. House is good from a visionary standpoint, though his vision is questionable at times.
Screw the Legion.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.House. He makes the best case for why he should be in charge, and has the most legitimate claim on the region (he was there first and succeeded in establishing a relatively safe pocket of civilization) compared to everyone else, who are really foreign aggressors. Plus, every other ending requires you to kill him, and that's just mean.
What makes a good man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?I sided with the Legion, because I specifically wanted to be evil, but pragmatically so. I ironically have really good karma though, so I went an Anti-Villain route, making the "right" decisions except where the main quest is concerned. The only decision I was really unsure about was whether or not to kill Caesar when I was operating on him, which is the closest thing the Legion questline has to a strong moral decision. Do I kill him and save millions from worshiping this tyrant only for them to die to Lanius later? Or do I save him in the hopes that the longterm stability will be worth dealing with his ego?
In my mind I always imagined my courier killing him and Lanius from the inside later, and inheriting the Legion and Vegas myself.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."I see the Legion as more Stupid Evil. Stupid because, if they really were interested in emulating Roman culture, they'd be on the cutting edge of technology instead of neo-Luddites. The Roman Empire was not anti-technology at all like the Legion in New Vegas is. They have nothing positive to offer to the people of the Mojave or humanity at all, unlike the other factions who have their pros and cons.
Plus they're just complete bastards. I've never sided with them. My attitude towards members of the Legion is the same as my attitude towards the Thalmor in Skyrim - I've never met one who wasn't lying face down in the dirt a few minutes later.

What makes a good man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?I still want to see what it's actually like in Arizona for the people and traders under Legion rule.
As it stands, the endings kinda fly in the face of what everyone says about the NCR; they aren't really overextended, they're capable of bringing peace and order to the Mojave, and all it takes is some loose cannon who doesn't play by the rules to fix all of the structural issues that the NCR has with running the place. It'd be a much more interesting choice if, as Word of God tends to indicate, the NCR's dick is not that long and they have problems maintaining a modern liberal democracy in the Mojave while their home territories are already under heavy stress. (Not to the extent that Chris Avellone would like, but more like Sawyer was hinting at.)
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.We don't live in the Mojave or in the NCR proper. Cass does. She's seen everything that the NCR gets up to, both in her home and the Mojave, and if she says the NCR's dick isn't long enough, then I am going to take her word for it, in and out of universe. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.
It falls into the fact that New Vegas as a game is one humongous reference to the Iraq War and what eventually happened there - the US withdrew with it's reputation tarnished due to various scandals and its standing as the world's policeman gravely damaged. Our WMG on the subject nailed it. It's a pity that the follow up comment undercuts it slightly but the one actually detailing what the story is about scans perfectly.
After a much prolonged hiatus, I find myself once again installing the game, going over to Nexus and digging up some of my favorite mods. I see that Willow got a nice update, and I really like the increased depth of her dialogue chatter now. The updated appearance of Willow in general is also a good thing, looks less like a waif and more like a proper wandering prospector now.
Kinda with that A World Of Pain would update, though. Seems that it's been largely stuck on its current revision for some time now. Or is it just me?
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.@Tam: Cass' word is at odds with the omniscient word of the narrator in the endings.
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Cass is just another wastelander, her take on the NCR is no more or less valid than anyone else's. Although in this case I tend to agree that the NCR's dick is indeed lacking in length.
What makes a good man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality? And you think there's no possibility that Cass is overstating the NCR's issues? We overstate how bad shit is all the time. Look at any discussion of... pretty much anything, really, and you'll find loads of it.

You know who's a better Legion than the Legion? The Mid-Western Brotherhood...they even crucify people....
Tactics is fun though...

It would be kinda nice if there was a Screw This, I'm Outta Here option.
You just leave (maybe through the gate at the Mojave Outpost) and it triggers the ending slides.
