I never knew that Patrick was that involved when it came dubbing the games. It really sucks that he not only gets not have a chance to really take his role all the way to the end, but he wasn't even informed about the situation personally.

Yeah, that was real shitty if the company to not even show their V As the least bit of courtesy. I bet if they dropped the JP voice track they wouldn't find a phone to call Sugita fast enough.

At least Europe doesn't have to wait I gues. Hell even the EU release of Revelator has been shitloads better than Sign.

I'd imagine getting it out to EU is also a factor in the lack of a dub this time.

But yeah I woudn't mind JP only audio if it meant we actually got the game ontime. As much as I gave them shit ASW was timely with Revelator's release and even gave us the patches and DLC that everyone else got.

Of course then they finally released Sign's DLC whilst Revelator had already been out for a fortnight so

How long did Sign last, a year before they were pushing out Relevator?

I get the feeling that JP companies treat their VAs better than US companies treat theirs in general.

Semi-related, something amusing I just realized:

SoniComi, a visual-novel-ish... thing starring Nitro Plus mascot Super Sonico is apparently getting an "optional English voice track" while BBCF will be sub-only.

I dunno, I just find that kinda funny.

Yeah that was kinda what I was saying with bad wording. If they had to for some reason excise the JP audio (not that they'd ever do that because JP waifu Noel) then they'd let all the JP cast know immediately, first hand and directly.

So I kinda get why Seitz is pissed about this.

The amount of salt over this decision tho! Sweet fucking jesus you'd think ASW just cancelled preorders without refunds!

Given a certain red logo'd company going full Hitler then trying to win everyone back with a derivative zombie shooter, I can't hate ASW as much as I used to anymore, and Revelator's EU release was a step in the right direction. If we get patch 1.04 at the same time as everyone else, that'll be a pretty damn good redemption.

@vicarious: Sign everywhere else got like a year and ahalf or so. EU Sign barely got like five months.

Yep. Physical, on both consoles AND with all the current DLC and patches available, too. I'm just as shocked as you are.

Hell the PS 3 version on PS Store is a reasonable price this time! £29.99 if you're wondering.

Remember when the EU CPE on PS 3 was the same price as Phantom Fucking Pain? I'd not pay 44.99 at least for Revelator but in comparison I'd pay that for an update that actually continues the story, adds a sizable amount of actual new characters (three of which are returning faces, yeah) and improved balance and support rather than pay that for a completely pointless update that fiddles with the RGB values on the UI, ports over story shit from the Vita version and adds what I can charitably descrribe as 1 and a half new characters.

x4 Mind you, the game only has one voiced character, and she already has an English voice actor due of the anime, so it's comparably much easier to give her an English voice. Just that most people would prefer her Japanese voice actress, so the English voice is more of an option than default.

Also, my main point was, no one was really clamoring for an English dub of Sonicomi, whereas people are actually attached to the English BlazBlue cast. So for the former to get dubbed and the latter not to is just kinda chuckle-worthy to me.

Reading Seitz's post did kinda bring me down, though.

Like he said, its likely much less work to dub that game than would be to dub Centralfiction; remember that Blazblue has an extremely extensive lore and each game is bigger than the last.

And localizing isn't exactly free, which is why you see most games from Japan not even bother with dubbing at all and just translate the text. The fact that BB had a dub for so long is a pretty rare exception.

Seitz I think made the situation pretty clear in his post, but i'll humour the idea at the moment. I think the only possible way we'd ever get a dub at this point, is for EXTEND, which really, I can't help but feel we'll be 3 for 3 at this point regarding an EXTEND. So for a CF EXTEND, maybe, MAYBE with them getting enough warning, and the text translation being done, they can dub the game as an additional advertising point for more sales, or for it essentially being the final prime universe/ Ragna Era BB game. And all of this is pretty much a 1% chance wishful thinking deal.

A corpse should be left well enough alone...

So in a humorous question since the quota of new characters rather obviously heavily skew towards the humanoids with a Y-chromosome how many women from any spin-off material with any connection to the Blazblue universe can become playable characters?

Um, wrong? CF's new characters are two men (Hibiki, Naoto) and four women (Nine, Izanami, Es, Mai)
