This thread is for quick questions. A "quick question" is a question which has a relatively quick, generally factual answer; a question which is not likely to inspire an extended discussion.
e.g.
Quick Question: How tall is an average ten-year-old boy?
Not a Quick Question: Why are Americans obsessed with guns?
Quick Question: Why is ALS sometimes called Lou Gehrig's Disease? Who was Lou Gehrig?
Not a Quick Question: In Alan Dean Foster's Thranx Commonwealth series, is Pip a Mary Sue?
Get the idea?

My grandma used vinegar as deodorant for several weeks, while she was staying with us, and I never noticed any smell.
Can distilled vinegar work just fine? I have distilled vinegar. Does Baking soda with water work?

What other purposes is malware used for? (I know about adware)
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonSome malware will masquerade as fake antivirus software that it tries to make you buy.
While malware may have once just deliberately annoyed people, most modern specimens have some way of stealing money or data for their creators.

Or they use your computer to send out spam.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMalware tries to steal your money, steal your data to steal your money, or steal your bandwidth to make money illegitimately (such as renting out a botnet). Or inject ads for the same reason as that last one (which honestly is stealing your bandwidth too, just in a different way)
In some specific contexts it will also steal your data for its own purposes. If you're for example an investor, it may monitor you to see what you're going to trade to get in before you, but that's some very sophisticated stuff.

Everybody's all "Jerry's old and feeble" till they see him run down a skyscraper and hijack a helicopter mid-flight.Do solar panels wear out from use? Like, will a solar panel that's been exposed to light for x amount of hours need to be replaced when x is large enough, assuming nothing else acts upon the panel? Or can any given solar panel last forever?
They last anywhere from 5 to 20 years depending on the cost.
Solar power really is an extremely expensive and not very cost effective way of doing things.
Oh really when?Is it possible for a Wiki to shut down?

"Anemone dear, I know you want to be more independent from me, but... please take care, okay?"If it's Mediawiki, you could XML dump sets of pages with the Special:Export page. This can be imported into a new MW install, which mediawiki.org has instructions on a USB drive installation.
You can also download the HTML pages, either manually or with tools like HTTrack. This works for any site

What is the name of the bias where one thinks negative situations happen more often than they really do, because negative situations affect one more than their positive alternatives ?
For example : traffic lights seem to always be red, because you spend time waiting at red lights but not at green lights.
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreNegativity bias
Can Baking soda be used to wash your mouth?

"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."Does anyone know what this is? Taken today (11th September) at about 3-3.30 pm in the western sydney area (NSW, Australia).
I think it's a snake but I'm not sure (I thought a blue-tongue was one once)
And sorry about the picture quality, I took it on my phone then uploaded to facebook.
EDIT: Not a snake! My dad got home and took a closer look, turned out it was the handle of a cleaning tool XD You can see the other end of it, the green edging around a black rectangle in the top right of the picture. It's funny how much it looks like a snake XD

Does Baking Soda and water work as an alternative deodorant? What are the possible side effects? Also, does distilled vinegar and/o apple cider vinegar?
