That is true. That's what makes or breaks a CGDCT series, after all.
Heh, it happens sometimes.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. The animation in this sequence still puts a smile on my face.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Not to mention, Don't Say Lazy is one of the GOAT E Ds of any anime.
One of the comments here 'd that the video is actually the four girls later in life, somewhere in their 20's.
Not hard to gather but I hadn't looked at it that way. Years later they reunite and become an actual J-pop band, or whatever you call this style of music.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Does Mugi ever sing in that video? I see Ritsu singing at some points.
I was always bummed that they never animated the two sequel series, with the girls sans Azusa in their first year of college and the other one with Azusa leading the new light music club at the high school. The later was my favorite. Watching Azusa grow into her leader position, juggle responsibilities, and try to channel the older girls at different moments was fun to read.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimWith so many studios bringing back old IPs for some reason, there may be hope yet.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."With the way the manga went in the short-lived sequel series (Yui, Mio, Ritsu, Tsumugi all attending the same college together), I don't think there would be any point they would be separated after that if they became an actual J-Pop band as adults.
The endings have really nice animation. I never did like how K-On seemed like a "Schoolgirl Series starring a band" instead of "Band members in a schoolgirl series". It needed more music focus.
I think another Kyo Ani show (Hibike! Euphonium) had that as a focus that K-ON never did. However, Hibike! Euphonium is more about a high school concert band rather than the light music club of K-ON.

I remember the one beach episode in K-On's second season kind of... bugged me.
Like, "this show is about all of their mundane lives... but here they are going to the beach. Nothing to do with music whatsoever."
I haven't watched it in forever, but in relation to what you said, some of the tangents the show would go on, like the girls going to the beach, would kind of bug me.
But then, what was this show really? Was it about band members in a school setting, or school girls trying to be a band?
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!More like the latter.
When you were a teen if you took a trip to a beach house to 'practice' would you get much practice done? No you would spend as much time on the beach as you could.
Their 5th member tries to put a halt on the antics as well and keep the group focused, emphasis on tries.
The first season of Hibike was nice. The second was okay, not terrible but certainly not as good as the original. I ran into another issue with Sound Euphonium though. Too much focus on practicing and not enough actual music being played. It's realistic, I know, but it's boring nevertheless.
They don't even show the big final performance. What a gyp.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."We got the last half of episode 5 in s2... and that was way more than enough. The show was a drama so practice and buildup to performances are the big thing.
K On is a slice of life comedy, the goofball character interaction and jokes are the goal the music club is just a set piece.

Shounen Note, Your Lie in April, and Kids on the Slope are also dramas but they feature music being played regularly. I suppose it depends on what the work is going for.
K-On is not a music anime. It's a Schoolgirl Series with music as its backdrop.
So, I recently started watching K-On! (on episode 2), and I couldn't help but wonder. How on earth do four teen girls earn 200,000 yen from part time jobs in a reasonable amount of time? (in the middle of the great global recession no less!) I don't know how much counting cars pays or how long they were at it, but it just seems wildly implausible to me.
The part of the first episode that stuck out at me most was a briefly moment in the montage when Yui is running to school where one of the people on the street behind her is wearing a mask. Things like that take on a new significance nowadays.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAh, K-ON. One of my favorites, though it seems to get a really bad rap in some circles.
You know how you sometimes hear that K-ON only really became truly beloved long after it ended? Well...I see why now.
I had the misfortune of stumbling upon some anime blogs from around when the show first aired; Truth is, I cannot believe how cutthroat some of them were. While I could link them as a demonstration, I'd rather just keep them tucked away in the farthest reaches of the internet and have everyone take my word for it. Thankfully, most of those people seem to have moved on to something else.
You had people calling it's fans pedophiles, essentially saying that it's fans were 'brainwashed', and acting like their negative opinions were objective fact. You also had idiots wishing injury and death on it's characters, which to be honest is absolutely silly.
Now, does any of this matter in the long run? Nope, not really. But it's an ugly reminder of how how irrational a show's Hate Dom can get.
There, I'm done ranting. Now it's time for something more positive: My favorite girl is Yui, though Tsumugi is a close second. Yui is such a cute, funny goofball with a huge heart, but I feel like people get too hung up on the whole 'airhead' part and start calling her such drivel as 'annoying' or even variations of 'retarded'. To me though, none of that is true because I feel like her good traits outweigh her bad ones. Now, from what I've observed reactions to her seemed way more negative when the show just started airing compared to now; to be fair, it kind of makes sense because I feel like the second season was when she really hit her stride. I think Mio got hit with the same thing, though not as bad as with Yui. Regardless, I still don't agree with those who constantly exaggerate her bad traits and overlook her good ones.
Tsumugi on the other hand is just sweet and charming with how enamored she is with what many consider an ordinary life. She didn't resonate with me at first, but she really grew on me over time. I've heard people in the past give her flack for "just being there", and while it's obvious that she doesn't get as much focus as, say, Mio or Yui, I feel like her personality alone is very endearing. In fact, that episode where she went to the arcade with Ritsu is one of my favorites.
Sorry I went on this long-winded tangent, but I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring so to speak because K-ON! as a series is very important to me.

"There is no losing, only delayed victory."I understand K-On!'s appeal, having seen many similar series (I only ever completed the first season). With this in mind, one of the places I follow, has spoken very fondly of K-On!'s first season, second season and the movie. If the other blogs out there have their negativity, this one is filled to the brim with positivity, and in my opinion, more than adequately disproves and invalidates those blogs with the crudely-written negative opinions. It's worth a read if you're interested in seeing what other K-On! fans have to say about things.

I watched ep7 (the Christmas episode) last night and was surprised that they included little breath clouds for the characters. I don't think I've ever seen an animated series do that before.
As for the hatedom, anyone who accused K-On! fans of being pedophiles probably moved on to attacking bronies instead.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlaySpeaking of annoying characters, I'm really starting to hate the teacher.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWhat did Sawa-chan do?
She basically exists just to make all the other characters miserable.
Also, her obsession with putting everyone in costumes is pretty creepy. If she were male, she'd be fired in a heartbeat.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThanks for linking those; I did see that blog earlier and was very impressed with what I saw on there. When I rose an inquiry about something that was said in an older post, they were very down-to-earth and level-headed in their response. Glad to see some sort of quality out there amongst all the garbage.
As for the Sawako discussion, I honestly believe that she gets better in season 2; I never cared for all of that character torment/costume forcing stuff myself, but I found my opinion on her change for the better as the show went on. Episode 10 of season 2 is an especially strong one for her, although I do understand that not everyone will be convinced even then.
I wouldn't consider her a favorite from the show, but I still don't mind her too much.

Awww the K-On! thread is revived!
T He girls are still so cute, and I think will never not be cute!
