This is quite possibly the funniest jab at web shooters I've seen in a while.

It does, and half a dozen other people that did that. But it's still the best because of her expression.

Read the whole thing and apart from the application of Reality Ensues, it's So Okay, It's Average. Not stellar, but not bad either.

I think it's pretty good, where it's not falling prey to plot contrivance to set up the central premise.

It'd be pretty awesome if it weren't for all the fanservice. Really takes it down a few notches, or a lot of notches actually.

Then again, I'm probably not part of the intended audience here.

It is rather overdone. I'm not sure if it's for its own sake, or to be deliberately comic book-ey. The art style is notably different (and more fanservicey) than in his other webcomics.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it So Okay It's Average, because there are some inspired bits ( such as the thing with Spinnerette having six arms, and having to hide them in a fat suit civilian identity ), but it's not going to be much more than a light-hearted, amusing Spider-Man parody, is it? Though turning down the fanservice would help.

It's funny that too much "fanservice" annoys fans and alienates potential ones. I saw that with Negima too.

See also Empowered. Takes Western comics to Japanese harem levels. While the story's been developing steadily into a Darker and Edgier heroine's journey and a sex-filled romance, people just see the fanservice and dismiss it.sad

I am completely unfamiliar with this person's other webcomics. However I just read through everything in this one so far, and while it's not amazing, it's likable and well-drawn enough that I'm gonna at least follow it a little more and see where it's going.

I haven't read Empowered, but doesn't it actively deconstruct the notions of fanservice, and show its protagonist as extremely self-conscious about the way people look at her? Spinnerette doesn't really have any reason for the hyper-sexualized movements and renderings of Heather, Sahira, and now the evil Spinnrette except for fanservice in and of itself.

And it's completely true that too much fanservice turns people off of a series; otherwise Sultry Teenage Super-Foxes would be the best selling comic of all time.

That would only demonstrate that excessive fanservice doesn't draw people to a work, not that it drives them away. Unless you're suggesting Sultry Teenage Super Foxes is secretly the best written comic of all time, in which case I'll make a point of ordering it.

Evil is trying too hard to be sexy.

Edit: Theory — it's aping the standard tropes of superhero comics, including the fanservice,to be more like them.

It's alright. Pretty clever, but ridiculous amounts of fan service, as mentioned. I'm not sure if it's going to go anywhere, but if it grows a beard or adopts a cerberus, it could be quite good. She's still in that chipper, optimistic stage of heroism. I'd like to see if she goes the classic route and becomes perfectly competent opposite perfectly competent supervillains, or if, Idunno, shit gets real.

Probably competency. That's what usually happens.
