Also, judging from the colors of her outfit, I'm going to assume that Korra is from the Northern Water Tribe.

They said that Korra was from the Southern Water Tribe. Maybe the southern fashions were influenced by all the Northern Waterbenders that went to help rebuild the SWT? Or her parents are from the NWT?

I'm going to assume that your first guess is true. Depending on how long the Northern tribesmen stayed in the Southern tribe, fashion could be influenced. Or it could have just changed over the years, as fashion often does.

The sad part is, since this takes place in a City of Adventure, it's unlikely that this magnificent creature will be a major part of the show. You just can't cart around ten-ton animals in a crowded metropolis.

You never know. It might be a city lawless enough to let it happen, or not pay attention to it because it's an unusually uninteresting sight.

Wasn't it reported that the episode number had been extended since the comment about the series mainly taking place there? If that was true then it may extend beyond the City of Adventure.

I'm guessing part of the Earth Kingdom's former Fire colonies. Having the city be declared it's own state would be a nice blunt way to deal with the any ownership issues.
