Also how does one pronounce this series name? I have been reading it with a silent P like Siren the greek myth bird/girls singing things.

I've always though 'psy' as in 'psychic' and 'ren' exactly how you'd assume.

I thought it was something it was called Psyren because it pulled people in and they were never heard from again like Sirens. Maybe spelled like it is because of your explanation? I am pronouncing it the same way.

Looks like the series is about to end.

Actually, I read somewhere that the next chapter is already out AND it is the Series finally. I thought there would be at least one more chapter, if only to have a satisfying epilogue.

The final chapter is number 145. 144 has been recently released.

Holy shit, Downer Ending. Well, if Ageha really is dead at the end there.

Also, what happened to Junas's loli companion?

Chapter 144 is NOT the ending. Chapter 145 is. Judging by the spoiler is a decent ending overall. I mean, the manga was clearly rushed and failed to live its potential, at least as far as characterization and fights go. Still, it was good.

Yeah, I'm aware 144 is not the ending, I'm just saying it looks to be leading towards at least a Bittersweet Ending.

Well, I guess part of that comes from the tears of wasted potential. If this gets an anime... Well, it could either go really crappy or be what the manga was mean to be.

Since the plot and subplots are already all laid out what the anime would really need to do is expand properly where it's needed. Of course, the possibilities of this being animated are next to nonexistant.

Damn Japan not liking this series.

Maybe in a way, that could be a good thing =/ At least plot won't drag for forever...

Personally, I have few problems with Psyren ending like this. The mysteries surrounding the titular cards have all been explained, the charters are powerful enough to defeat all their opponents and know of/gained the highest level of ability conceivable, and the future threat has been nullified. The only thing left for the story of "Psyren" is the epilogue. The only thing that feels like a "problem" to me is how fast a number of the later events went by.

I would not mind if there was a sequel that is more of a Slice of Life and shows the Phy-users working towards acceptance by the rest of humanity. One of those "people with abilities fight for the populous against people who misuse their abilities" situations. You could even have the meteor come after earth again in the future and everyone working together to figure out how to stop it.

I guess all the Psy users are gonna have to redo a year in school. Man I wonder what Ageha and Sakurako are gonna do, besides that, with the rest of their lives. I mean they are both incredible powerful kids who saved the world. Working a desk job after that must be boring as hell. Maybe Ageha will take up Kagetora up on his offer and become a yakuza.

Howdy peeps. Never read Psyren before, tried to once, but lost interest pretty fast. Wanna retry, but skeptical.

Can someone give me a rundown of why it would be worth it to read it, or why it might not?

Pros:

• The protagonist characters
• Consistent and clever use of Time Travel
• Strategic fights (at first)

Cons:

• Some of the villains are rather bland.
• The fights later on are somewhat uninspired.

How is femaleness handled?

Quite well, I'd say.

Fanservice-wise  ^.

I'd say there wasn't so much fanservice in this- Besides, y'know, Matsuri- But I don't pay attention to it even if it is around...
