So what are your thoughts of Lance's sudden character difference of season two in comparison to one and three.

And didn't he like almost kill Kitty and her parents?

(Sorry if this is a pointless necro, but I have a legitimate comment which I hope will, at the very least, create discussion.)

I love this show, especially Kurt, but there's one thing which just bugs me. Actually, it's something I didn't realize until my third time through the show. Why does Magneto want to stop Apocalypse? Apocalypse has done nothing to make Magneto his enemy, but he has A: been a mutant who tried to rule the world (not exactly something Magneto would be against) and B: tried to make everyone on the planet a mutant (which sounds exactly like the sort of thing Magneto would be in support of).

Because Magneto obviously wants to be the one to rule the world. [up] I'm pretty sure that's like the plot of four different X-men Continuties.

I thought the specifics of Apocalypse's plan weren't really known until Magneto was already brainwashed and Horseman-y.

Though he often deludes himself into thinking he isn't brutal, Magneto also wouldn't support a brutal overlord, mutant or not.

Ironically, there is a lot of Apocalypse in Magneto, but when Mags sees it in Apocalypse he sees it as being evil while he doesn't see the same thing in himself.

There's also the fact that, IIRC, Poccy attacks Magneto & his gang (by brainwashing Gambit via Mesmero) first.

[up][up][up] He was there when Professor X, in Dark Horizons, iirc, explained who Apocalypse was, and what he was going to do with the device, thing the first time?

The best part of all that storyline was when Wolverine, Sabretooth, and Gambit are forced to go into some winter climes in search of some... mystical shit in order to unwind the mystery. It was more than just a little hilarious.

That last season is really what kills it for me, I would have loved to see that show continue to grow and mature. Speaking as someone who has the DV Ds, the progression from season one to season four is kind of astounding. Season one is... there is no other way to put this objectively, guys, it's /bad/. Scott freaks out in the first episode because he lost a quarter. And he's trying just so hard to be "cool guy", ugh. It's... pretty...

But, on the upside, the show did spawn a bitchin' awesome new trove of fanfiction for X-men fans that did not have to involve timetraveling and alien invasion forces unless the writers/readers prefer it to. And that's always a plus.

The doomedness of Rogue/Scott was always the best part of the show for me.

I always did feel bad for Rogue about that but this was before I cared about Shipping so I didn't pay it too much mind. What irritated me was that they never gave Rogue a telepathic or empathic love interest. It would have given her a way around the, can't touch anyone thing. When your significant other is a telepath or in the case of the X universe even an empath, the Power Perversion Potential is pretty high.

Yeaaahh but they weren't going there. X-Men Evolution barely even elaborated on the love story that we DID know was happening, they were hardly going to start suggesting things of that nature.

And are these just hazy recollections or were there definite undertones of Wolverine creeping hard-goddamn-core over Jean in some moments?

Like, seriously, bro. I get that green-eyed redheads are kind of your thing (other than a few exceptions here and there) but she's like eighteen! You're like three hundred! Go hook up with Storm, Wolvie, seriously.

Yeah because an additional 10 to 15 years makes it okay? That doesn't solve the age thing you're pointing out.

[shrug] It may not be logical but it's what feels intuitive to me. Ororo isn't in the clutches of surging adolescent hormones at whatever age she is in Evolution (24 at the very youngest) so any relationship engaged in would at least have more a feeling of both participants entering into it with a certain level of emotional stability...

But it's more the fact that Ororo is more on Logan's level as an authority figure. Logan helps train Jean whereas Ororo is another teacher.

Otherwise the only available pairing for Wolverine is Mystique and that's only if the cartoon is going with the comics in theorizing that because her cells contain so much capacity for adaptability, she would be able to heal the effects of aging and etc. If I can recall, Raven was placed as being one of the Older Than They Look mutants in the 'verse.

I loved this show. Craig Kyle and Chris Yost write a damn good mutant high school drama.

...which makes me wonder why, when they took over the mutant high school drama comic, they jettisoned that angle completely...

No Mistress there were serious shades of Wolverine being all kinds of creeping on Jean. They seem to do this in most of the continuities I know about but I only know about it from the movies and cartoons so the comics could be different for what little I know or have the initiative to go looking for.

And I kind of liked the Wolverine Storm interaction in Evolution. It did feel better but that's because Wolverine LOOKS more like Storm's age where he's visibly older than Jean and of course there's the whole power thing. What I think made this weirder for me when I rewatched this one was that Cyclops seemed to not resent Logan here but respect him on a certain level.

That fight was awesome but you know something that isn't that appreciated about Evo? The great music.

Listen to that Magneto theme in the background. Amazing.

Ah, X-Men Evolution! I love this show, quite a bit. Definitely my favourite non-comics incarnation of the team. Favourite character?

Kurt. He's adorable, happy, uplifting, funny without being Over The Top, and with enough subtle layers to build a very deep character. Plus his accent is one of the most adorable things ever.

I'm also fond of Kitty, Magnus, Logan, Rouge, Scott and Raven.

Great show...well, maybe not that first season...and the Bayville Sirens. I refused to even watch that ep.

But a great show. Scott was great in this series(as opposed to how he was marginalized in the movies). And as just shown in that video clip, Apocalypse was everything the comics have hyped him to be.

I also liked the bait and switch they pulled with Mystique. With Magneto, Storm and Xavier, you knew they weren't dead, but when Mystique came out there with them, I imagine there were even more WHAT THE FUCK?!!! reactions then her death.

This show, and The Spectacular Spiderman should be in the same Continuity, since Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes and Wolverine And The Xmen do the same.

Sorry for the double post, but this needs rekindling.

If one of the characters, in their EVO characterisation and style were to appear in the movies, who would you choose? Comics? Game?

Just some Trivia I got from the Season 2 Volume 1 DVD

After seeing their ages/grades it occurs to me seasons 1-3 took place within a single school year. For some time Fanfiction led me to believe that at lest two years had passed before Scott and Jean graduated.

The X-Men

Cyclops, Age: 18 Grade: 12 Birthplace: Anchorage, Alaska

Jean Grey, Age: 18 Grade: 12 Birthplace: Annandale on Hudson, New York

Nightcrawler, Age: 16 Grade: 10 Birthplace: Bavarian Alps. Germany

Shadowcat, Age: 15 Grade: 9 Birthplace: Deerfield, Illinois

Spyke, Age: 14 Grade: 9 Birthplace: New York City, New York

Rogue, Age: 17 Grade: 11 Birthplace: Caldecott County, Missouri

Notes: Scott is called an unrelenting perfectionist that spends hours training in the Danger Room (Well it looks like the fandom got a few things right...). Kitty is said to be good with computers (described as an 'uncanny natural understanding') which IIRC is a nod to her comic counterpart correct? Errors: Kitty is said to be the youngest despite being 15 while Evan is 14.

The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (Yes they have "Evil" in their group name)

Toad, Age: 17 Grade: 10 Birthplace: Unknown

Avalanche, Age: 18, Grade: 12, Birthplace: Unknown

Blob, Age: 17 Grade: 11 Birthplace: Lubbock, Texas

Quicksilver, Age: 17 Grade: 11 Birthplace: Eastern Europe

Notes: So in contrast to what most fanfiction has him as: Toad is not a Freshman. Interestingly with Lance's and Todd's birthplaces being "Unknown" leaves open the possibility of them being from Greek and British (the nationalities of their comic counterparts), but came to America when they were young in this continuity and had their names changed at some point either by their parents or Foster Care. Immigrants had to change their names when they came to the US to help them "fit in" and IIRC even Comic Toad thinks his parents must have hated him if they named him ''Mortimer''. Having his name changed to Todd must have been an improvement for him...

Avalanche's name was Dominikos Petrakis or Dominic Janos Petros either of which the Show's Writers/Producers may have have thought sounded "too foreign" (or hard to pronounce? I'm just guessing here) and changed it.

I'm fairly sure that info can be safely ignored as inaccurate. The way I remember it, the season 1 finale takes place in the summer after finals—indicating the end of a school year and allowing Kitty to begin as a frosh as indicated in the file but be a sophomore by the season 3 premiere—while the season 3 finale marks the end of the following.
