There's going to be some sort of mash-up of the Needler and the Covenant Carbine, I think. As well as some new Assault Rifle.
This is going to be depressing seeing as the outro will inevitably be a Kill Em All ending. Just so everybody can look up to master chief for being Last of His Kind. And those spartans look so COOL too.
Hopefully we'll get some really big battles. None of this "Smattering of tanks, one scarab and two squads of brutes" BS. I'm talking about battalions of marines taking on an onrushing horde of alien freaks as swarms of fighters dot out the sun above while the groud rumbles with the thunder of a veritable phalanx of armored treads. And it'll be good to see elites make a comeback as things you shoot.
Oh, and no flood.
plus the graphics look pretty good to boot
oh and no brutes (or not as many)
With the Brute shortage do you think we'll get a Brute Shot replacement, or just a truckload of Fuel Rod Guns to fill the "Covenant bazooka" quota?
They also redid all of the graphics, and are building the Elites from the ground up. Oh, and the Elites are supposed to be even more Bad Ass this time around.
No Flood.
Oh, and we don't know that all the Spartans will be KIA. Maybe they'll just be MIA. (Of course, no Spartan may ever be listed as KIA anyway...)

Jonah FalconDarker and Edgier is right, and hopefully they'll really capture how awful the Covenant really is in the Halo 'verse. I remember how at one point in one of the novelizations, a group of humans is eaten alive by grunts, which kind of revokes their Woobie status for me.
But yeah, I'm pretty excited at the idea of playing as an S-III.

Two men, one staring North and the other staring South, stand on a rooftop. One says to the other, "Why are you smiling?" How did he know what the other man was doing?A vidoc got released, http://www.gametrailers.com/video/x10-vidoc-halo-reach/61845 if you haven't seen it.
So far everything looks great, the only little niggle being that it seems to be veering a bit into Real Is Brown territory. Most of the vistas still look beautifull and the alien armies still look like a homicidal rainbow though so i needen't worry much i don't think.
Wait, was that a double negative?
My favorite bits are the new human weapons. The DMR looks like awesomesauce, and that grenade launcher sure could come in handy. Plus one of the spartans is lugging around a big heavy machine gun. In Halo 3 i tended to only use covenant weapons: Spikers, carbines, brute shots and fuel rod guns where simply more fun and more in tune with my playstyle then those cruddy assault rifles and shotguns with the range of a seltzer spray can.
Plus it's been said to be a "sandbox" game. Halo 3's biggest flaw IMHO was it's linear, scripted nature. Sure it's Crazy Awesome and filled with memorable moments, but by the third playthrough you've essentially already memorized every single place an enemy appears. And it was short, so that third playthrough could've happened the day you got it. A more open-ended nature means it could be different every single time you played it. And given how good Halo games are, you know your gonna hafta play more than once.
Holy Hell. Here I was thinking this was just gonna be another expansion pack game like ODST.
Wrong-o!
The flood could have worked if they didn't instantly kill your allies and turn them into their own dudes. And if they couldn't use guns. And if the pure forms weren't so impossible to kill.
So essentially if almost everything about them was changed.
Wow this is the first time I'm legitimately excited for a Halo game (it should be noted I didn't own an x-box till 360 so I didn't get excited for games I couldn't play).

Obligatory self promotion: http://unemployedacademic.tumblr.com/Halo 1 and 2 came out on PC, you know.
Jonah FalconLike TEN YEARS after it was on the console. Totally doesn't count.
if the May 3rd is thing is true, I will remember it forever.
Check Major Nelson.
Jonah FalconHalo Reach beta trailer!
Six words: MASTER CHIEF PAWNCH! To the gut!
Stuff I noticed:
There’s new barefisted melee attacks, as well as sumersaults and running charges
Melee attacks from the rear are now more explicitly called “assassinations”, with more complex animations
There’s now equipment loadouts
Some of the mission modes include “Invasion”, “Headhunter”, “Active Roster”, “The Arena”, and most enticingly, “Spartans Vs. Elites”
One word: jetpacks

Pages Needing ImagesThere seem to be new manuevers. I swear I saw Elites and Spartans doing dodge rolls. Hey, if the Covenant could do it in campaign games, it's about time we could do it.
Halo 3's multiplayer really is pretty damn foormulaic nowadays. Everyone knows exactly how many shots to the head it takes to down someone with a pistol or where all the "power weapons" drop. Reach is gonna shake things up a bit. That's not a guess that's a statement.
Wonder what the new modes are like. Is "Invasion" a battlefield-esque conquest mode? Certainly looks like it has a tad more players active at once than the others. I hope firefight makes a comeback. With SPARTANS this time.
Can't wait to see the elite's assasination animations. Wa-CHA!
New info on the player customisation system - http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/703448/Bungie-Reveals-Halo-Reachs-All-Encompassing-Player-Investment-System.html
Playing single player and multiplayer will earn you credits, which can be spent on cool-looking, but completely cosmetic, armour peices. The player's customised character will also appear in the single player campaign.
Looks very similar to Rainbow Six : Vegas 2's syetem, which is good, because I love that system .
Frankly, I'm less interested in the multiplayer and more keen on the campaign. Halo 3, ODST, and Halo Wars had such short stories...
That's true. I get the feeling Bungie are holding campaign info close to their chests for this one, and are concentrating on the MP beta. We might not hear anything new until that's over.
Halo: Reach is nearly content complete and the next few months til launch will be polishing to "to make sure it's the best damn thing... put in your Xbox."
