The Tear Jerker link needs to be either two words, like I just did, or have {{braces}} around it. Otherwise, the parser doesn't know that it's part of a pothole so it just closes the spoiler at the first set of ]]s.

That's okay; everyone learns. 
The full tutorial is on the Text-Formatting Rules.
Most links are Wiki Words. Wiki Words are made by typing in CamelCase, with no spaces. If a link is two words or more, then you mash them altogether in CamelCase like this: TearJerker gives Tear Jerker.
Some links, however, are only one word, and you can't type them without spaces because there are no spaces to begin with. Therefore, you have to use double {{curlybraces}} to tell the wiki that this is a link after all. It looks like this: {{Tearjerker}} gives Tearjerker.
