Essence 3 mortals would make damn good shock troops for an exalt-led army though.

[up]Doubly so if you could find out how to stop that whole "take half your life away" thing, with a competent PC and a lenient GM at least.

[up] There is such a thing. Check the entry- if you attune for some motes, you don't lose any lifetime. It's only if you aren't Enlightened that you lose it.

So yeah, no issues there!

Fluff I made up!

Sorcerers developed a spell that from a single mote will create a construct that constantly reflects their emotional state via abstract facial expressions. Then they sends these to all their friends so they may keep track of one another. These are called 'emoticons'.

Anyone hear of the book series Everworld?

Okay, post-Everworld and the kids somehow end up Creation. However the Celestines themselves take notice of these outsiders and divine the harrowing journey they've been through. Luna appears before Christopher and Exalts him for his troubles. David later earns Exaltation when he balls of the walls faces down an angry god and attracts the attention of Sol Invictus. Jalil is presented with the possibility of his coming be fated and that he may be asked to join the ranks of the Sidereal.

Oh, and Senna is back after the Death Lords gave her an offer she couldn't refuse and April will be tempted at her moment of utter despair.

So, I just got into exalted 2ed. I know that there are supposed to be a horribly large amount of books out for it and although all I know about these other books comes from here (which mainly means ink monkeys=good) and I just want to know: What books should I get?

Here's a handy list.

As a minimum, you'll want the Second Edition Core, as well as Manuals of Exalted Power for every Exalt type you want to include in your games.

I'd also recommend Wonders of the Lost Age (a collection of artifacts and rules for Warstriders) and Scroll of Heroes (a merits and flaws system) for added character creation options. Glories of the Most High have rather nifty new powers and are a good read as well.

And if you decide you want to focus your campaign in a particular region of the setting, getting a Compass for that one would be a good idea.

My title is no longer sticking out of its box, but I couldn't think of anything better to put here.

Oadenol's Codex is very useful if you want to be thinking up custom Artifacts, and I like the more detailed Manse rules in there, but it's not vital.

Now, it's not the ultimate goal of the Neverborn to kill everything, it is their ultimate goal to truly die. Suggestion for a character: A Deathlord begins rebelling against the Neverborn, creating Abyssals with the intent of well and trully slaying the Neverborn. And his Neverborn master supports him in this endeavor.

JosefBugman Since: Nov, 2009

That'd be... intersting.

Is he supporting him behind the scenes? Or something like "No definetly DON'T do this, this and this or I and my compatriots will all die".

Ending their torment is the whole reason for the Neverborn. I don't see them having the subtlety to do behind-the-scenes when their existence is basically

Josef_Bugman: More like the Deathlord started considering it, maybe outright moving to do it in secret, but his Neverborn patron just took a peek inside his head and said, "Yeah, I like that plan. Do that. Keep up the good work."

I've thought about this, and I have a solution. I don't want to say it thoughtongue, mostly because I'm saving it for a surprise if I ever get around to writing that epic Fan Fic of Exalted I've always wanted to do.

A Solar Exalt retains the belief that mortals are the true inheritors of Creation and that all may have the chance to stand equal to the Solars. It is said when he was presented with the tests of sorcery so they he may humble himself so as to quell that part of him that rebelled against the arrogance of wielding the power of the primordials, he travelled into his own mind and squashed the nuisant voice instead. He did not need to humble himself, he told his teacher, for sorcery was his birthright as a mortal of Creation.

After mastering Solar Circle Sorcery, he then sought his Lunar mate. He was delighted to find her in a No Moon sorceress who had already mastered Celestial Circle Sorcery. She had mixed feelings about him but was pleased to find he didn't intend to make a pet of her. Instead, she was surprised he intended to make a student of her. In front of an enclave of Lunars, he declared his intentions to teach her Solar Circle Sorcery.

In private though, he set upon her a condition: She must find Terrestrials and she must teach them Celestial Circle Sorcery. First though he set upon the task of teaching her Solar Circle Sorcery. However, to his frustration, they found her essence seemed to rebel against it. However she was clever and as adaptable as any Chosen of Luna and simply changed the rules. She took what he taught her and adapted it to fit with Lunar Essence. She adapted some spells, dropped other and created more whole sale and simply created Lunar Circle Sorcery.

When she turned upon teaching Terrestrials Celestial Circle Sorcery, she chose one of every caste. To her lack of shock and dismay, she found her students had problem reconciling their Terrestrial Essence with Celestial Circle Sorcery. She simply taught them what she learned in creating Lunar Circle Sorcery. Each of them found supreme strength in sorcery the alligned utterly with their Caste, creating a Circle of Draconic Sorcery for each of their respective elements. They spread their teachings to the rest of the Terrestrials, just as the Lunar spread to the rest of the Lunars, but those first five gather again. They have tasted the power of the Celestial Exalted and they want more. They move to make the next step forward themselves. Now they just need to agree on the name for their own Third and Final Circle.

The Solar looked upon this and although this was not how he imagined this he was pleased none the less. But still he looked upon the unexalted masses and despaired in their inability to step beyond their limits. His chance came though when he was set upon by Sidereal sorcerer. The Sidereal offered to teach the Solar Sidereal martial arts in exchange for helping him create a Sidereal equivalent to Solar Circle Sorcery. Instead the Solar gave him the task of finding a way to teach the unexalted Sorcery. The Sidereal, reluctantly, agreed. The Solar was pleased.

Soon all will have their chance to stand equal to even the highest Exalted.

Amongst the Primordials their was one called Xen, the Purposeful Chaos. He was both kind and cruel, playing jokes upon all of his brothers to cause the maximum amount of chaotic uncertainty. It was said that he could look upon the Weaves of Fate and calculate the chaotic mess to predict the most likely future.

So it was he who predicted that the gods would rebel against his brothers and sisters. And fail. He thought up one last joke, one that would cause more chaos then ever before, he would show the gods the way to suceed. He would plant into their minds the idea of planting pieces of themselves into mortals to bypass the geas placed upon them which he predicted Autochthon would first perfect before they could implement and Gaia's lesser soul would immitate.

So he demanded an audience of the Celestine Luna, requested one of his sister Gaia and bullied his brother Autochton into attending. Each expected to a part, and likely victim, of some joke and prepared themselves for the worst. Then Xen did what none of them expected.

He commited suicide. Right there on the spot.

He took all of his souls, from his butterfly-like fetich soul to all of his gibbering lesser souls and imploded upon himself. He did so in a way that his death throes would cover 1/10th of Creation, around the center just below Yu-Shan, with a strange radiance. Luna, Gaia and Autuchthon would watch as the remnant of Xen's being implanted itself randomly in mortals below, granting them a measure of his power. The other Primordials merely noted Xen's passing, and chalked it up to his raging insanity. But the deed was done, Luna returned to Sol with what she saw and the two benevolent Primordials were left to ponder.

The nature of these imbued mortals is so similiar to Terrestrial Exaltation that it is sometimes consider the other Terrestrial Exaltation, called Xeno Exaltation (With the Dragon Blooded being called Draconic Exalted in this case). As befits their progenitor, the Xeno Exaltation appears randomly but can be passed by the blood. Although Xen's influence must still remain as even those who have no Xeno Exalted in their ancestry will Exalt. Further befitting Xen, the exact power a Xeno Exalted will have is nigh random. Some are less then heroic mortals while others challenge Solar Exalted in power.

Obviously, the theme behind Xeno Exalted is that of the X-Men's mutants and may mirror them in many ways.

I can't stop writing things!

Our Solar System did not look the way it does today. Their were more planets then now, nearly a hundred in fact and if the planet was an inhospitable gas giant then its moons were teeming with life instead. And all of them had great light shine upon them by twin suns, the one we have today and another that was green.

This solar system was created by ancient alien beings called the Primordials as a sanctuary against the wilds of the rest of the Galaxy hostile to their existence. They also created Gods and other lesser creatures. You know what happens next.

The solar system and the world we know today is in part a result of the Gods raising up the Exalted in rebellion against the Primordials. 9/10ths of the planets were utterly destroyed, the saurian Dragon Kings nearly wiped out, their bones left to fossilize and the Gods gave what was left for their Exalted to rule so they may retire to their heavenly plane. This was a high age of technology, the likes of which have never again been seen in our world.

But then, of course, the Great Curse set in and they all began to run amok, especially the Solar Exalted. The Sidereals gathered the Terrestrials in rebellion and the Usurpation War, nowhere near as devestating as the Primordial War, still ended with only two planets inhabitable. The Sidereals realized it was not just the Solars but all of the Exalted. They chose Mars, one of the last inhabitable planets, to rend a great ritual that would trap all of their Exaltations in a Starmetal Prison. They place a geas upon the Earth, the last remaining place of habitation, rewriting reality so the Exalted and all their associated wonders never existed and that humanity may never advance far enough to find the Exalted Prison ever, consequently sealing the blod of the Terrestrials as well.

But humanity is persistent and cannot leave well enough alone, and are backed by those who have reason to unlock the Starmetal Prison, the defeated Primordials, the Yozi, and their undead counterparts, the Neverborn. The Yozi which to reclaim the galaxy franticly, especially now they sensed that their hiding place has been found by the xenos creatures that forced them to flee in the first place, and the Neverborn just want everything to die.

So we make it to Mars in 2012 and unlock the Starmetal Prison, breaking the geas as well. The Sidereal Exaltation engrave themselves into the Weaves of Time and travel backwards, reestablishing themselves earlier, creating several disagreeing secret societies such as the Free Masons and the Illuminati, although one Solar Exlatation follows them, becoming Buddha, Abrham, Jesus, Mohamed and more. The other Exaltations have to make do with now as Solar and Lunar Exalted begin to reappear, and the blood of Dragons reamerges in tens of thousands world wide. Caches of First Age wonders begin to reveals themselves with the geas of ignorance lifted and people question the history of their world.

But as you know would happen, only half as many Solar reappear as the Yozi and the Neverborn suceed in unleashing their own Exalted on the world. Supernatural phenomena from magic, ghosts and hostile aliens from beyond the stars begin to makes themselves more blatantly apparent and undeniably true and what may be the true inheritors of everything makes themselves known once more.

This is Exalted on our world in our time, Exalted Modern.

So the Ebon Dragon was called The Dragon's Shadow before he devolved into a Yozi. That is, he was noted to be a shadow of what he was to become.

What?

Yailna the Jumping Joy, Eclipse Exalted of the Unconquered Sun, grinned at her Full Retinue. It was a term she made-up to cover having members of every sort of Exalted ever! Even a pair of 'cousins', those two with Solar Exaltations tainted by the remains of the Primordials, an Abyssal and an Infernal. There they were, talking right now, getting along! They were probably talking about how awesome it would be to become Solars again!

"Look, the Yozi are incompetent mad titans who barely have control of their Exalted," Said The Hand That Stops The Executioner's Axe, Death Knight of the Dusk Caste, "While the Abyssal will start shooting out kill beams at everything if we don't do it with out bare hands, thus doing the Neverborn's work."

"So you truly think the Neverborn are worst then the Yozi," Said Marquis, Green Sun Prince of the Fiend Caste, "And the entire basis of your argument is mostly about how they deal with their Exalted, right?"

"Right."

"Well, let me re-educate you, my friend," Marquis adopted a wicked smile fit for a demon, "Let me tell you about the initiation rights of a Green Sun Prince amongst our patron's Third Circle Demons but mostly let me tell you about a little girl named Lillun."

"O... kay?"

"Marquis!" Yailna scolded the Infernal in front of everyone, "Why did you make Hands cry? He's an Abyssal, he's already has enough to be emo about!"
