Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

I brought up a thought and now I wonder, because apparently some subconscious part of me likes to be al sagely and whatnot.
Couldn't a nerd or a geek have decent, good, great or goooodly people skills? It's such a stereotype that a nerd/geek is socially unskilled.
I'm incredibly nerdy, and have pretty good people skills, so I'd say yes.
We need more people like you.
I'm a nerd with okay-ish people skills. They need improving, but I can at least order food and pay for shopping without tripping over my words.
ಠ_ಠPlenty of nerds have good social skills. Especially like-minded nerds interacting with each other. You get a group of people to talk about that one TV show they all love and you'll have to struggle to stop the conversation.
"We're home, Chewie."It's just unfortunate that the common stereotype is that nerds are loner freaks with bad acne, and any nerd that is pretty with good social skills is treated as being a minority.
ಠ_ಠ@Tools' statement of the nerd stereotypes: It really is one of those things that I wish was kinda... well, deceased in terms of stereotypes. My personal social skills are kinda... sub-par at times, given how I'm rather timid... As for the freak part, I am not to that, nor am I particularly acne-covered.
Also, I am pleased to not have to type a revision for my purely online class.
"If you have any beefs with Santa, do remember to SETTLE IT IN SMASH!" Quote by EdveedDoes it still qualify as the "stereotypical social awkwardness" associated with "nerds" if one such as myself is capable of conversing to a certain extent, but either feeling uncomfortable/severely loathing every second of it?
Living The Fever DreamRunning into too many stupid, boring or otherwise just draining people in too short a time, perhaps? I myself know some very stupid people, whom I thankfully don't meet very often, but hell, I rarely say anything to them and good so.
I don't know, perhaps it's what kinda images you link to conversing or anything.
They're there online, obviously, but I just can't seem to find any where I live. But I think I already told you about those ones. So I have a choice of conversations between a normal person that I have nothing in common with where conversation peeters out immediately, or the socially-maladjusted-for-various-reasons anime crowd that don't seem to understand casually asking to feel my breats mid conversation or or wearing cat ears and ending one's sentences with "nya" or trying to read me their pony porn in the middle of class or tackling me to the floor — excuse me, glomping — aren't cool things to do.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistThe latter group sounds a bit extreme.
I can't make this shit up. [Name redacted] still scares the piss out of me, and it doesn't help that she hits really really hard. And has also added a raccoon tail, panda eyeshadow eyespots, and wings to her ensemble.
Unfortunately she's also the only other person in the school who knows what Death Note is.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistNot sure I know who you're talking about, but if I'm remembering correctly and it's the one you said that basically no one but you talks to.
Then, wow. That is quite the overkill.
Wait, does she have those things on her constantly? As in, even in public?

Yep. Walks around school with them. I saw her at this ice cream place with them on once.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistFive thoughts sprang to my head from that:
1:That sounds incredibly uncomfortable.
2:Does she even realize why that might make people more likely to want to avoid her?
3:All of those sound a bit expensive to maintain to me. And for some reason I feel like the wings and the tail are frequently stolen by douchebags.
4:Wait, she wears those things to go eat at ice cream places? I knew she uses it in public but I'm still surprised for using it as... Casual clothing. (See thought 1)
5:Don't tell me she's actually allowed into classes with those.

....I'd also like to eat the chicken.
Nobody's told her to take them off, I guess. The tail she keeps on with a safety pin. The wings are one of those harness type things, and they're pretty small.
Oh, did I mention the cat claw gloves? I forgot about those. She has cat claw gloves. Glittery ones.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistShe hit you?
Isn't that.... more important than what she was wearing.
I mean, I could probably get along with someone with weird clothing choices like that, but if they hit me, fuck no.
They're joking shoulder-punches and "glomps" and stationary chair kicks, so she doesn't mean any real harm, but she doesn't quite know her own strength, so she hits hard. I just kind of avoid her.

MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistHibiscus is upset.
Hmmm.
Probably going to be used as a metaphorical punching bag.
Tiem to prepare self!
Huh.
I'm probably just surprised because I'm used to somewhat strictly enforced dress codes of uniforms in schools.
People have been told at the gate to actually not enter until they have a uniform on.
We even have teachers there sometimes to do that.
Mind you we're actually a really chill and actually pretty loose high school even with the uniform thing.
I don't look at the hitting thing because I'm so damn used to people hitting each other and being friends.
And I don't mean just shoulder punches. People hitting each other like they're in a fight but laughing and whatnot, basically like Vitriolic Best Buds. To me it still seems like they're seriously injuring each other when they do that.
Another reason why I probably won't have much social interaction with those guys.

I want my future daughter to be named Kisser (perhaps Love as middle name since that's apparently legal). But for some reason my girlfriend keeps rejecting that name for being a Unfortunate Name and I just don't get it!
Besides being an (in my language at least) equivalent of "Kitty".
#nolivesmatterA geek can, a nerd can not. That's basically what defines a nerd.
Both liking the same TV programme or whatever that is a terrible reason to hang around with crazy-and-not-in-a-good-way people.
In a world with English as its Lingua Franca your girlfriend is right: that's a terrible name.

'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'I'm well aware of this.
I dunno. What is it about anime that attracts crazy people? I don't get it.
