I actually had a sci-fi setting idea a while ago of a planet where the inhabitants have destroyed themselves repopulating itself from self-replicating nanomachines left behind. Naturally-evolved robots, basically.

Nanites or Gray Blob I think it was called?

I read somewhere that that scenario is pretty implausible due to the second law of thermodynamics. or was it the first?

Okay, warning, philosophical rambling.

Many people join a particular group to get a sense of belonging - be it their nation's military, some sort of fanclub, or even something like a sports team they can play in and enjoy playing with.

I just wonder - how much of human society is influenced not just by that, but also by how many are feeling disatisfied with how their nation is progressing?

I'd venture to guess potentially quite a bit, if we look at Italian fascism and many Communist groups.

Speaking of going places, I thought of another advantage of moving to Texas instead of Seattle. By going to the Lone Star State, I won't have any awkward encounters with my old guild leader from Arcane Destiny.

Unless he moves to Texas too.

I was reading a newspaper earlier about US Marines going to train in Australia and the one thing they were seriously told to watch out for were the crocodiles. Beyond that they had an interesting encounter involving being surrounded by hungry dingoes.

She, actually, and I should hope not. After what happened between us, another meeting would be more uncomfortable than the goodbye in The Wizard of Oz.

I wonder if I should move to a northern state or just up and flee to Canada.

What if they marketed dolls to boys?

Not action figures, dolls. The ones you dress up and accessorize and whose hair you brush. Or comb.

If it became commonplace, would there be less of a stigma about them?

That company would probably take a serious hit. Not just from lack of demand (because little boys are still very sexist), but also from Moral Guardians who think that company is trying to push a "gay agenda" or something.

Boys are only sexist because it's ingrained into them by their parents and their peers. You put a boy in front of a TV that says it's okay for boys to play with dolls and he hadn't heard from anyone else that it's not, then he'd probably want one.

So obviously the trick is to hook em young and to turn em against everyone who'd call them a sissy.

Give it a couple decades, when the young adults of today are running the show. That's the way it usually works, right?

Given how many young adults today are showing reactionary world views? I doubt that one will work.

People will still raise their kids with ingrained archaic social views no matter the generation. It's just now they'll have a bold new flavour.

Playing with a super-sexy girl doll? Totally gonna turn your son gay. Playing with a ripped fighter dude? The straightest toy for your son.
