I think I have a cold.
But I'm not annoyed or pissed at this. Because guess what? It's (almost) the end of the semester. I'm pretty much done with anything.
I didn't get sick once this entire semester, and that was including the winter with flu season. I consider this a victory.

I just began a novel with 'the' AND a description of the weather. I'm fairly sure that's generally considered bad.
Not if A Wrinkle In Time is any indication. Personally, I always like to establish the setting early on.
Remember to Show, Don't Tell. A passing reference to the weather may be better. What effect is the weather having on the event of the story? If you can't find a way to do this, then you probably don't need to let your reader know the state of weather anyway.

Er, it's having the effect of making it hard for my MC to keep her grip on the edge of a gutter? Don't ask. I'll probably edit it out later anyways; this is only the first draft.
Ever notice how in maps of Japan on Google Maps, the roads are drawn with realistic widths, but everywhere else roads are simply marked by lines that are all the same width for the road type?
Edit: Maps of Korea are a little like this as well. China, not so much.
