In case anyone is wonder, no you can't trade Tux.

Is it giftwrappable?

It might be tradable in the future though. Valve's taken up a tendency to make promos untradable until a certain date. Maybe when the Linux promo ends.

Tux is kind of meh. Also, he isn't on some characters properly. Like the Scout, Tux is just floating a few inches away from his rump.◊

Nah, it just typed "import antigravity" in Python.

I decided to give up on the quest for Tux. Seemed like the installation froze halfway through twice.

...I can't install Steam on linux, says it can't install libc6-i386 but when I tried to get that package through terminal it won't work either...help?

Edit: I got it now, need to do general update first...

Keep in mind that you don't actually have to play the game in order to get the Tux. All you have to do is just attempt to launch the game. So if you get an error trying to open TF 2, don't worry.

I didn't even get Steam up yet (installing it now)...and consider that I need to spend even more time to download TF 2 itself...it's gonna take a while...thanks for the tip though!

Pst, just copy paste the TF2 files to the Linux stuff. Much faster that way.

Hmm, once I can get this virtual machine up and running, I might help out people who want the Tux, but have trouble installing Linux for some reason.

Err, hmm. Not too sure to be honest. I guess the same place in the Steam directory? I dunno.

Copy from hard drive where steam is intalled/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/your steam account name there you copy the Team Fortress 2 folder.

Well, shit...I tried to launch FTL to play while waiting...and something happened...no idea what it just goes into console mode...I tried to restart, and now "The disk drive for /tmp is not ready yet or not present"...what the?

Also, found the way to copy from Windows to Linux!

So apparently someone wrote a Tux unlocker for TF2... With a side effect.

That Cheater's Lament is looking more glorious right now.

I think we're about to see a 3rd release of the Cheater's Lamet.

Seriously though, if you want that Tux, I'd advise getting it through Linux, and not a workaround. This might have consequences.

Oh great, after installing Nvidia driver on Ubuntu now when I boot in it's stuck in the stupid purple screen, and nomodeset doesn't do crap...

Update: 3 and a half hours later since this post initially, 3 linux instal and reinstall, TF 2 copy, Nvidia driver problem with purple screen, and s3tc problem (all from the start) later...IT FINALLY WORKS!

This seems like too much trouble to go through to get just a TF 2 item.

A better question is whether I want to get a TF 2 item and a dual-booting computer out of this.

No need to do dual boot...just use Wubi! It basically make Windows treats Ubuntu as a program that you can easily uninstall after you're done with, and thus you don't need to partition a drive...

I tried it, and couldn't install Steam on Ubuntu.

Gave up.

Plus side, the Pyro action figure I bought off thinkgeek got here today, and it included a promo code for a Genuine Brigade Helm. \\o/

If it means anything to you guys, Linux Mint is basically Ubuntu with a more Windows-like GUI and (IMO) better packaged drivers.

Playing on messed up textures is like a trip through the acid. Some very heavy acid.

• My Engie suffered Tohtification.
• Damn half of 2Fort was a liquid lava.
• The other half was a surreal graffiti.
• Health meter turned into a weirdass cap.

...I'm disappointed I didn't manage to get too many screenshots.

You know, I want to see a map with lava. It's already themed off of 1950's spy stuff, why not throw in a good old-fashioned volcano lair?
