I can totally picture him randomly coming to this site and reading this very thread to see how annoyed we are of his latest crazy twists. And to see our guesses for the next update, and do the opposite in the comic.

The story back in the ancient days of Formspring was that he liked the site in concept, but found that the actual handling of it was done with too much pedantry.

I also remember he snarked once about the relevant examples being under like 12000 anime entries.

When he answered a question about his update schedule, he did base his entire argument off the numbers from our Webcomics Long-Runners article.

Hussie did it. He's finally having his 13-year break.

The Raid? Is it that one movie with the really long and awesome fight scene?

I like the progression of The Raid, everything goes from guns blaring to kung-fu fighting pretty naturally.

@Ninety: The single-shot hallway fight? I think so, yeah. The Marvel Daredevil TV show did an homage to it that was also pretty good.

Yeah, I remember that. It was awesome. I love over-the-top high-octane fight scenes like in RWBY or excellently-choreographed battles like in Avatar, but every once in a while a brutal and gritty fun can be a lot of fun, too.

@Ninety: Yeah, that's the raid. I linked the fight with the martial art meth cooks a while back. It's great, and so is the sequel.

Daredevil and Captain America 2 homaged to the best.

@Inari: Tvtropes has some pedantry, but Wikipedia has way more...

At least Wikipedia has the excuse of supposedly being a useful resource.

This is a useful resource. I'da never found Homestuck without it, probably.

Yeah, I was iffy on whether or not I should start Homestuck until I found a guy in my high school looking at the TV tropes page (I think it was the Midblood troll's character page). We chatted, he explained what the comic was, gave me some out of context funny parts, explained how the Homestuck done completely in flash was just an easer egg. All that good stuff. So yeah, TVT helped get me into HS as well.

I've started watching/playing/reading a ton of stuff thanks to TVT.

Same here. My point was more that TVT is informal at best whereas The Other Wiki is trying to be, like, academic and crap.

I owe a lot to TV Tropes. There's quite a bit of stuff I might never have gotten into otherwise.

I feel like tvtropes practically raised me over the past 5 years. I'd be very different without it.

I mean for one it got me into Madoka.

@Red: Yeah, the bandaid thing was mine. Every time I have to put on a bandaid I know the most painful part will be pulling it off.

I know that feeling. I've been on here for... holy crap at least since high school, so I've been on the site one way or another for something like 8-9 years. Possibly a decade, even.

I got in back in Highschool, so maybe 3-4 years ago.

TVT has lead me to some pretty good stuff that I've enjoyed watching, but I usually scoped around for Reviews or word of mouth first.

Though The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck and Pride of Baghdad I jumped on purely because I came across them on the tropes. And Cave Story because It got recommended here.

TVT has gotten me into a lot of stuff, though to what degree is kind of fuzzy since when I hear about a new show or something one of the first things I do is check the trope page to see if it's something I'd like. So for like 90% of the media I've consumed in the past 5 years this site was a factor in it (though probably not the only one).

This site used to be the most reliable at getting me into new things (it's since been largely superseded by my tumblr dash, but, well, we'll always have TTGL).
