Well, I don't like Meganium that much.

Then again, I certainly don't hate it.

[up]Yeah, that certainly is true.

and Feral got DD and SF*

I also don't see how the only starter that doesn't go out of its way to try and look badass in some form doesn't stand out design-wise.

The only starters I find particularly interesting are Gen IV's. VI's and III's are okay, I's are meh, and II's and V's just flat-out suck for the most part.

Actually, I would pretty much hate the Gen II starters if I didn't irrationally like mustelids and crocodilians.

Because they're boring and terrible.
Don't project, dude.

But no seriously, Gen II might still be my favorite set of starters. Their designs aren't particularly outstanding, but it was back in the day when that wasn't actually a requirement. They're perfectly solid and good. And they're a cute dinosaur, a snugglebadger and an angry croc. All I ask for from life tbh.

Hey, speaking of Torterra (we were speaking of Torterra, shut up): If I wanted to make a Grass/Ground starter with high attack and high defense and low special stats and speed (and some cool signature moves), but using the BST of Swampert... what are some things I could do to avoid just completely outclassing Torterra in every way? Would it be enough to just not let it learn any Rock moves?

Starters huh?

VI and III are my favourite, counting all stages for an overall assessment, not counting their viability in the competitive battles though.

After that, I'm not sure. IV has the Piplup line which I love, but I don't like monkeys so the Chimchar line is disliked since day 1.note The Turwig line is just meh, for me. In V I love the Snivy line, but the rest are meh. Well, Tepig is kinda cute, but I don't like its evolutions. I and II are okay, but they don't stand out too much. I love the Charmander line, I'm okay with the Squirtle one, I dislike the Bulbasaur one. I like Chikorita but her evolutions not so much, I like the Cindaquil line, I'm indifferent to the Totodile line.

So... I guess the final verdict is... VI & III > I > II > IV & V. I and II can be switched around. note

Does the Serena's Fennekin serial code work outside of Japan yet?

I don't have any strong feelings of preference for the Starters, but I still view the Chikorita line and all the Gen 5 starters as subpar.

Hmm... As a set, Gen III's starters are probably my favourite. If we're going by individual favourites though, Gen V and Gen VI have my two favourite starters (Serperior and Delphox.)

Best games in the series? I think that there is a general consensus that HGSS are as close to perfect as a main-series Pokemin Game can get. Being fantastic remakes of the franchises darling and having a crapton to do with loads of nifty features. Of course, it maintains the shitty levelling curve from GSC and had IV: Now Loading issues.

Though I'd personally say ORAS are my favourite instalments of the franchise.

My favourite gens are III and VI.

I'd have to say my favorite starters are Gen I. Charizard is the best.

My personal favourite starter is Feraligatr. Wanna know why? Hit up my (archived) JPN Soul Silver playthrough in the Live Blogginations subforum around these parts. Also my very first Chosen Starter (besides Bulbasaur in my test RBY playthrough via an ancient DOS GBC emulator) was Totodile.

[up] I've heard a lot of peoples finding Charizard overrated.... on youtube. I guess it's alright to actually like Charizard here. I do liked Charizard's design. Blastoise comes in second place for its two blaster. Venusaur is my least favorite one. Venusaur is pretty fantastic in battle, but I still don't like its design no matter what.

My absolute favorite starter line is Meganium's. [nja] If I would make a Top 5 list, it'd probably go Chikorita<—Snivy<—Fennekin<—Piplup<—Bulbasaur. Although I'm not a crazy fan of starters in general.

I guess I tend to like the underdogs...which means usually the Grass-types ;-;. Though, when I was younger, I actually really liked Torchic. When Blaziken got a Mega, it fell into my despised Pokemon list. Now I'm hating it a little less.

Shiny Metagross.

I do like regular Metagross though. If I'm joking, I would say Garchomp.

I was very confused when I got Charizard and found out it wasn't a Dragon.

Fortunately, Mega Evolution has corrected this oversight.
