I think there's one preserved. And the targets are now being replaced by F16s.
How Draken International became the world's biggest private air force
Keep Rolling OnMight be a drone but I'm nowhere near the southwest. I'm out on the east coast next to Lejeune.
And I can't think of any museums that could maintain an F-4 nearby. There's the missile museum in Surf City but they're not big enough to take care of any planes.
Oh really when?I'm not sure. It was doing touch and go maneuvers with several other aircraft (mostly helicopters) with Pueblo Municipal Airport. The nearest military assets are Fort Carson (US Army), Petersen AFB (flies mostly F-16s anymore), and Schriever AFB (C3 facility, no aircraft). Cheyenne Mountain is also nearby but it's not truly active duty anymore and has no aircraft either.
About the only thing I can think of is I mistook it for a Tiger II F-5E still in service or it was doing something related to the Air Force Academy. Either way it was out of place, never seen any of those fly in Southern Colorado before, haven't seen it since.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Reuters released news that a MH plane made a safe landing in Iceland after it flew over a volcano.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Life just keeps finding new ways to kick Malaysian Airlines in the nuts, doesn't it?
EDIT: It's fake.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiHappy birthday USAF!
Celebrating 67 years of badassery, keeping the Russians on their toes, and extremely questionable aircraft design and procurement decisions.
Yeah, the F-35 Pigeon, the F-4 without a gun, several of the Century Series, none of which are fondly regarded as top of the game.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."The Delta Dagger wasn't bad for something designed in the 1950s.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiNo worse than anyone else at the time — even the Soviets made some duds.
Keep Rolling OnAre you saying the F-111 is a bad plane?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Well it's not the prettiest thing in the world if we're honest.
Also the Australians apparently used those things up until December of 2010. Didn't know that.
Oh really when? You can't really argue with the back bone of El Dorado Canyon.
My only gripe is that it killed the TSR-2.

"Yup. That tasted purple."B-1B For Sale, As Is, No Warranty.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot^ Maybe we can start a Kickstarter to buy it...
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."It certainly ain't no F-15 and it certainly ain't no A-10 so...you tell me.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."It also certainly doesn't really operate in either role so trying to compare it to two craft that are nothing alike to begin with is a fruitless exercise. It is not an air superiority/patrol fighter or a CAS/Anti_Armor/Ground Attack craft. It is almost exclusively a swing wing bomber. It does tactical and strategic bombing, interdiction, and bombing missions in general.
The craft while not armored up to the gills like the A-10 is a not a go low to the deck craft. It also has longer range and higher ceiling. It has comparable range and operational ceiling the F-15 at slightly longer and higher for each category IIRC. It does the bombing thing better then either craft.
Who watches the watchmen?Conception is one thing what it does now is something else entirely.
Who watches the watchmen? The F-111 had a pretty good Terrain-Following Radar, and did operationally fly at low-levelnote — although not quite as low as the RAF of the same era...
Plus the USAF had retired the F-111 a few years before. No doubt spares were getting to be a problem.

Keep Rolling OnThe Diggers really didn't want to get rid of their Aardvarks, and there's lots of them who regret buying the whole Pigeon dog and pony show. There may have been a fatigue hours problem on the Aardvark's airframes, but don't quote me on that one.
Green: There is low then there is A-10II low. While the F-111 did have a 20mm gun I would be shocked to see one doing a gun run.
Who watches the watchmen?^ F-15s do gun runs, I could easily imagine a 111 doing one on soft targets.

"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."F-15's very rarely do gun runs and for a good reason.
Who watches the watchmen?
Tom; Working airshow demo craft maybe? There were more then a few flying antiques at the Offut Airshow.
