Age of consent in Japan is 13.

Yeah, when I learned that, everything made sense.

It's 13 in Spain too, actually.

That's not strictly accurate.

So basically, while age of consent is 13, someone over 18 boning someone under 18 is extremely taboo and the over 18 person who did it is gonna be facing indecency charges as well as a lot of public stigma against them hanging over their head.

Kinda stricter than that. Main rule is that it's illegal to have sex with someone under 18 by regional law, with a very narrow room for exceptions.

And you won't be charged for "indecenies", it's straight-out "sexual conduct with a minor". Japan is very much the same as most Western countries.

Oh, and 13 is just "age of consent" by national law. Regional law (which is every bit as binding) usually sets it to 18 (I think a few have 16).

I'd like to point out that the age of consent might not apply to this particular situation, since neither Junko nor Archer are actually in Japan. Or anywhere on Earth, actually.

Uhm, fun fact, it might. It depends on what definition the Criminal Law of Japan gives, but it may protect Japanese citizens outside of the country's borders. It's not unheard of for serious crimes.

I am in complete and total agreement, most definitely.

Of course, Japanese law is somewhat hard to enforce in the Danganronpaverse, what withsociety collapsing into anarchy with only a few known bastions of civilization still living a relatively normal life and all...

But, I think Vox is hinting we should probably stop going into discussion about the Japanese age of consent and how it applies to anime school girls in a multi-dimensional roleplaying game.

Going back to the root of this conversation, Junko, at the oldest, is 18, which while legal, is still very much the Danger Zone and kinda terrible. The end.

Frankly, that isn't a topic worth discussing anywhere, unless you want to be on any number of government lists.

That is very paranoid.

So what has currently happened in Infinites that I should know before introducing Azaka?

My legal opinion is that, in this case, the age of consent is not really relevant. Specially considering she is a fictional character, there is no crime perse ( in most legislations) And if it were, it wouldn't be paedophilia.

What IS relevant is the fact that we are in a site and therefore bound by the forum rules.

In other words if it's deemed inappropriate material by the site admins you can get banned. Regardless of national legislation's age of consent.

Right now, Yee, Xion and Excalibur are talking right outside the Cinema. I think Mutran, Sabrina and Zero are still inside. Junko is with the creepy red thing in her own room, Archer is knocking on her door, and Lune is about to walk past him.

An just to be perfectly clear I was talking about Real Life, consequences of writting it, not in game.
