I thought about it a lot and I think this is the appropriate response in Eclipse. It was a difficult decision. Desco fears are very specific, the gruesome scene is something she gets used to fast but the vicious and brutal method to cause the scene sparks fear. Such is something pretty much unseen by her.
Attacking someone with a weapon isn't scary in the least though, so Desco didn't start to fear it until Dio pit the thoughts in her head. The power of suggestion.
Were Dio not a vampire this would been played out entirely different. This likens him to her Valvatorez and greatly influences her judgements about him.
