Apparently the thing is buttery soft under the ERA, because ERA is UNBEATABLE by those Indian T90s.
Fight smart, not fair. But Hellfire missiles eat ERA for breakfast.
I forgot something about the US Navy. More Idiot Ball:
The super-expensive Zumwalt Class Destroyer may not have an Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense. Despite costing so much that only 3(!) can be built (down from 20+).
Yea, the US Navy went there.

Oh wikipeida, is their anything you can't do?

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48I knew the Zumwalts were serious over budget but that is bad.
Who watches the watchmen? There is a problem in Do D acquisions. This happened in the 3rd ID. A vendor gave them intel software. And they got investigated. *faceplam*
random topic: Too fat for war.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48Fuuuuuck. This has been stuck in my head all fucking day. I don't even ''like'' the song.
So much repetition.

That is one thing I think civilians need to hear more in the sense every branch's song is pretty freaking dark at times.
"We fly in flames, we go down in flames..."
Yep. More props to the military.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurIt's "we live in fame or go down in flames"
That's not the lyrics I saw, thanks for clarifying that for me.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurThat 3rd ID thing? "Oh, you can't afford to buy it? Well, here, have it anyway, our treat." Er, not a problem?
The person raising a stink over it is the Army's Acquisition Executives. She also used to work for Raytheon. The software is question is made by... Raytheon. Smells fishy to me.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.I like the general shape of the Zumwalt, I'll give them that. Seriously, no CIWS though?
Fight smart, not fair.CWIS is like... cheap. Small. Light. Works.
Screw it, just make a butt-ton of missile patrol boats.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Wait, rereading it, it's lacking ABM, not CIWS. My bad. Although, I'm getting the distinct impression it's the developers being all "we don't want our systems talking to their systems" BS.
Fight smart, not fair.Fucking procurement contractors.
To distinguish from maintenance type contractors :P
IIRC these were also the ships that builders/designers forgot basic chemisty and have “galvanic corrosion" aka Electrolysis, with the hulls. As a cost cutting measure a device that helps fight or prevent such an issue was chopped by the designers to make the ship cheaper.
Stand corrected that was the LCS hulls.

Who watches the watchmen? This. Video. F'king win! ADA history from WWI to today.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48As a life-long boater, that is without doubt the absolute dumbest decision I have ever heard of.
I'm baaaaaaackTaira: Neat. A couple weapons in that reel though were not AA platforms like a light weight mortar in WWI and a Bradley with Tow missile launcher. Other wise kinda neat.
Who watches the watchmen?Even a Bradley can kill a helicopter with that cannon it has in its turret. At quite a decent range actually. And mortars can kill choppers and fix wing aircraft either on the ground, landing or taking off. There is more than one way to defur a feline, after all. 8-)
I agree though, that was a kick ass video.
It was a Bradley Linebacker. Unlike DIVAD it actually worked, just long enough to pull convoy escort duty in Iraq. It's been phased out, they are now regular Bradleys. BTW the MOS of Bradley system tech just got opened to women.
ADA got it's start with field and coastal artillery in WWI. We spun off in the 1960's as a separate branch then.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48Abrams tanks can engage helicopters. They even made a round designed to be fired at helicopters. Can't recall the model number. M something or other.
ADA is an intresting weapons field. It spawned the German 88 Multi Role guns, the Bofors 40mm weapons, and the American Quad .50 "Meat Chopper" for WWII famed weapons. It also spawned some of the nasty looking Mobile AA Gun Missile platforms like the Shika.
Who watches the watchmen?I remember it's the standard HEAT round, but with an airburst fuse fitted. Quick-and-dirty flak shot. The trouble is getting within effective range so that the tank's fire control can target the heli, since most helicopters' missiles have much longer effective range than tank guns.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three. There is a different shell that isn't just a HEAT shell though.
Who watches the watchmen? The M830A1 is what I found for that purpose, HEAT-MP as it's called (basically a shaped-charge warhead with enhanced fragmentation).
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three. That's it. It has a variable fuse and has a manual toggle proximity fuse. It also has a three piece sabot for a higher velocity projectile.
Who watches the watchmen?Non-lethal tank shells? Found them in that page the link referred to and thought that it was rather an odd thing to be in existence.
Non Lethal Stun Canister (IMI) 120mm Cargo projectile designed stunning providing flash/bang effect.
