Because they didn't actually create the universe. They're basically what medieval Christians thought pagan gods are-demons.

According to Jeremy Carver, there is a plan to carry the show to at least ten seasons.
Ugh.
Well, I mean, they could stretch out the "Words of God" arc for more than a season, but no idea WTF they're supposed to do for Season 10.

I wish we could be sure they were actually wrapping stuff up. I hope they are, and that they don't wind up cancelled with loose threads.
I don't want to drop the series before it's done, but I barely watch any tv... don't keep making me!
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOne of my friends was asking me about this the other week. If this were already decided to be the last season they'd have already announced it somewhere. If this is the final season, they probably won't make a decision until later in the season, probably when they're filming the last half. Upping the story to closing the gates of Hell forever is probably more a way to up the ante as a way of addressing how the previous couple seasons have seemed less dire than the damn Apocalypse.
Yeah... we we spoiler tagging our posts because not everyone's up to date.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI don't really know the details, but apparently Carver plans to expand on the whole angels and demons thing, but, do it differently? I have no idea. But yeah, angels and demons.
I don't mind the series continuing if it's good, but...it hasn't been. So, I don't know if I can do up to season 10. And I really don't want it to get cancelled.

I'm still enjoying the arc episodes (not coincidentally because they've got some degree of budget), but the standalones are dragging. This week's one was just a stylistic departure for the sake of style, complete with random retcon of werewolf lore (again, largely for the sake of it).
I realise that I don't have a leg to stand on in terms of relevance=good, but irrelevance has to justify itself beyond being slightly cool, right? I guess this is more a complaint to be thrown at the third episode, though...
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Just keep in mind guys, sudden shifts in genre mean the writers are kinda bored by this point.
I'm a skeptical squirrel- I feel like that wascally line was a Shoot 'Em Up reference.
- That is quite the metaphysical question.
- And now we know what level of angel Castiel is/was.
- All these flashbacks... the Family Guy episode.
- 'And maybe after that I can fix your plumbing...'
- Vampirates.
- I like Benny. Gonna be a shame when this goes south.
- Sigh... it's not as bad as the "Collin County Library", but Texas drivers licenses don't look like that, and they don't call it the DMV, they have the DPS.
- Ha, a Garth mention.
- A Dog Named "Dog"... why don't you just call him "Bounty", hunter?
- I like Benny. I hope he stays good.
Huh, so Garth will be in the next episode. And has quite a point, in the clip on the website.
Yeah Dean, Like You Would Really Do It.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyVampirates was basically the greatest thing ever. Just throwing that out there.
Does anyone feel like Sam is sort of being replaced, or pushed into the background? I liked the episode, and I like Benny, but Sam's just kind of off with his bright sparkly flashbacks with Amelia, who has yet to give me a reason to like her, while Dean's palling around with his posse of supernatural critters.
I don't have a reason to not like her yet, but I'm sure something will happen. Sam will likely get his time, but in part it might be because he himself is reluctant to go on the attack. Also, Sam's been kind of in the back to Dean for quite some time.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'm sure it's just set up for some episode in the future, where Amelia gets murderized by demons to make Sam motivated to go after Crowley for realz.
That being said, I have an astoundingly bad track record for predicting future events in TV Shows.

Caught up to the last two episodes.
I liked Bitten. I didn't think I would with the room covered in blood, but I sympathized with the kids. Michael played a dumb Canadian on Victorious, so I already liked him. :P Brian was cool too, till the end, and the girl was...well that was sad.
With this last one, I do like Benny too. But I feel stupid. At first I thought that he was a leviathan. XP But I forgot those teeth...
Also I like how the leviathans just shoot down in Purgatory like ODST's. Though Sam's light story next to Dean's dim story is...sad.
Especially if Castiel really is dead.
If he actually died, I think Dean would've said it. Either Cas sacrificed himself to let them out and stayed to fight, or stayed to fight as penance.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThe brothers have had allies of just about every kind now. Angel, demon, psychic, vampire...though not werewolf. Or leviathan...
And they've been to every dimension.
Met a lot of monsters...if they only lock up demons forever they'll forever have all the rest of those monsters left. ;p
Once again, they haven't yet been to the punch dimension.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWhat about the dimension filled with nothing but shrimp?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI get a feeling that Dean would love that.
Well, Purgatory is all bats and wolves and worms. ;P It's kinda the same.
Oh, and Dean's been to the fairy dimension.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI really would like to see the Fairies again. They could do some nice fresh stories with them. Also, I would like if Dean having been in all those dimensions would become a plot point later.
You lost! It'd be like after he collected all those horseman rings.
"Dean, you must go to each of the spiritual dimensions and bring back an artifact from each that, when combined, will allow you to summon God and finally kill every stickin' monster on the planet."
You know what the best dimension was? Anything Gabriel ever touched. Ever.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI agree with that statement. Best character of the series.
Also also, I just finished season 5.
So many questions.
The Great Northern Threadkill.
I wouldn't venture to call the last couple seasons a stretch. They're like... a bonus.
Though they still haven't answered the question of why the "pagan" and such gods are different or defer to God, capital G.
Forgot to add: and where did they come from, and why do they have a domain, and such.
