We have freeze warnings occasionally during the winter, but I've never seen anywhere actually damaged by not leaving the water running a bit.
I saw snowflakes once, but I'm not even sure they managed to touch the ground before melting.
Fresh-eyed movie blogEl Paso has mild winters, cold winters and snowy "oh god white death from the sky!" winters. The locals don't know how to drive in the snow. Last winter it was mild and the weather was annoyingly cold. 2015 saw some good snow on the ground. There was a picture that made facebook of an E-4 dumping snow off HMMWV's in a Fort Bliss motor pool.
What sucks is that it can get warm in the afternoon then cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey at night- and stay that way until the next morning. But afternoon is hot somehow...
New Mexico winters were just Jack Frost tea-bagging the state until early March...
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48I graduated in '05. My dad graduated in '75. My grandma graduated in '51. My great-grandfather was one of the school's founders. I don't have words for how I feel about this.
Scion: My wife told me about that. Instead of moving to possible new campus. Not sure what she will be doing with Thursday without the University Band.
Who watches the watchmen? From what I understand (talking to Grace-connected people, including Dr. Zielke and his wife), after the school went public with their financial troubles, even with the announcement that they'd worked things out to move to Blair (and the new campus looked amazing, IMO), enrollment nosedived. And that's what killed it. Last year they had 400 students, this year 100.
People were afraid the school would fail, so it did.
Can't say I am too surprised. When schools struggle that hard it is sadly only a matter of time unless someone invests in it. I am guessing no one was really interested in putting money into the school to keep it rolling. The old campus was an interesting location to say the least being an old hospital and all.

Who watches the watchmen?Having found this forum I wonder if anyone on it might be interested in contributing to the "Welcome all classic film lovers" thread in the Film section. It's dedicated to absolutely everything made before 1967. Which of course means it doesn't get as many posts as "Superhero X Film That Hasn't Been Released Yet".
It depends on the films really. I'm usually allover the place film wise, but it's been ages since I've seen TCM.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48I was making a delivery to one of our customers and noticed a box full of books. I saw a few spines that said "Terry Pratchett", so I asked about the box and was told, "take it!" So I took the whole box. There's about half a dozen Discworld books in it, and I think I'll at least read The Hunt For Red October. A whole lot of the box is a new age writer who looks like pseudoscience.
Fresh-eyed movie blogPara: Hey you can at least take the pseudo science to a second hand book store and get something more useful out of it.
Well my father has slowly started eating some animal protein again. My mom says he is starting to eat eggs on a regular basis and even is eating bacon as a treat. My mother hinted that he ultimately needed to start eating more animal protein as he wasn't getting enough from his all plant diet. So I feel better about that.
However my parents have fallen back on the right side of the political spectrum. My parents want to move to Idaho because "It is more conservative" than their home state of Washington. -face desk-.

Who watches the watchmen? And I hope they like potatoes. As in, like like because that's the only real industry there aside from logging.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48The store gave me most of the books back because they're overstocked on Sci-fi and Dan Brown. I was hoping to get a cheap dinner out of the sale, but the ones they did accept were only $2.20

You'd be welcome to talk about any movie you want, not just what runs on TCM. Occasionally I'll talk about old curiosities that I fish up from Amazon Video or the like.
we evacuated due to the Tubb's fire. Kids are safe, we are at our parent's house. not sure what's next or what we will come home to.

Who watches the watchmen?Well had a moment of amusement and proof that Phoebe is a totally a mighty hunter.
I bought a hunting sim game for the Xbox One called theHunter: Call of the Wild. The game is reasonably realistic including animal sizes, tracks, and most importantly calls.
My wife was sitting there playing with the dogs on her lap when an Elk herd up hill from her stalking position goes berserk and starts screeching. Phoebe leaps up and starts looking for the Elk out the window growling and scolding the noisome creatures. Took her a few minutes to relax again. Both dogs get excited when the Coyote in the game start yapping.
Who watches the watchmen? No bets: Phoebe would try telling buffalo off.
She scolds the deer at Zorinsky Lake when she sees them. She has this odd little grumbling growl that sort of sounds like she is saying rabble rabble rabble.

Who watches the watchmen? My game has launched! And, huge sigh of relief, people are liking it!
Nice!
Got a concert at the end of the month, all to celebrate our statehood's 150th. So we're doing pieces by Nebraskan composers. Some good, some... not so good. Oh well.
We just got the printed music for a piece we commissioned from Jackson Berkey - shame we weren't able to get it soon enough to include it in this concert. I like Berkey's stuff, and I like what he wrote for us. But it'll have to wait till Christmas.
And apparently it's been requested that we perform the National Anthem at this concert. Considering what's been going on with the NFL, I hope somebody doesn't decide to make a fuss. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but US culture is getting weird.
TParadox, El Paso and parts of west Texas can freeze during the winter. Hell, pipes burst every so often out here during the winter.
