Holy crap, so this apple cinnamon herbal I got recently, turns out it is amazing with milk. It's delicious normally, but with milk... it's like a divine mix of the cereal milk of Apple Jacks and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

In a couple of months, you can up the indulgence factor with crisp, Autumn days.

Oh yeah. And I'll finally get to enjoy autumn! Whoo! Texas didn't have what you'd call an autumn. It was still hot and trees were green until like the end of Nov, then suddenly cold and leaves gone.

I left Indiana on October 19 or so, and it was definitely jacket weather, and as such I was just starting to get into the mood for Halloween. When I moved into my Austin apartment on October 21, it was summer again. The temperature did break for a few days on the 29th.

Today has been a rather mixed day.

I'm feeling less depressed, not because I have any reason to, but because I think I just hit the point of my body rejecting it.

We're sitting out here, in the Persian Gulf, in the middle of a record-breaking heat wave for one of the hottest regions on the planet. Someone sent around a heat index chart earlier this week, for the express purpose of pointing out that we were off the high end of the chart. Today, after a fair bit of running around that mainly involved laundry (in the even-hotter-than-outside laundry room), I went back to my airconditioned berthing, stripped down to socks and underwear, and after almost half an hour was still sweating profusely. I think I hit the early stages of heat exhaustion for realsies. I went to take a cold shower ... the water from the hot water knob was colder than the water from the cold water knob. -_-

For most of this deployment, I've hardly written - I banged out a single chapter worth on my fics, and several pages of character backgrounds/journals for a swiftly defunct game. In the last three days I turned around, opened Word, and just made myself write. Exploring the protagonist's fucked up mind, bouncing her off events she doesn't want to do, and have a nice, 3k chapter. But now I don't want to post it because I can't log into Patreon from the boat computers.

I think I spent more time driving in the last week than I have the last two months....

Falling asleep at the wheel is starting to become a large worry.

Whoo, got my Michigan license today. So now my license has the Macinac Bridge across the top, instead of the skyline of Austin. And it has a neat little "Veteran" identifier in red on the bottom.

I think I've hit a wall. Life wise. I tried punching a wall once. Hand hurt for a few days.

But anyway, I think I need something to spice it up. Work depresses me. My social life has gone to zilch. And the small joys are just small. It's like a total meh right now.

Advice my fellow Cobbies?

go find some new friends to hang with or a new experience to pursue. try something youve never tried before.

Got all registered with the VA healthcare, was up there for an appt (the preliminary seeing the doc and getting set up) yesterday.

In more important news, after yet another hammered weekend, I realized I'm bored of that. It's lost it's luster. Granted I've flip flopped on leaving the Dionysian arts a few times but now it's... not fun. Might stick to beer now and then, but I think I'm over the whole getting shitfaced thing.

Well, today ended up being more of a lazy day than I planned or even actually expected, but I did get some things done.

What I wanted to do today, vs. what I did do today:

• Talk to somebody at my apartment complex about if there are better options for next year

• Finish filling out and submit application for SNAP benefits

• buy groceries

• sort out why my internet bill went up unexpectedly

• get a better deal on internet

• laundry

• vacuum

I didn't actually make a list until I came here to describe it. I just have a lot of stuff go get done and not all of it can happen on evenings and weekends.

New bad stuff has happened, I couldn't go to my therapy session this week, and I can't find the energy to be optimistic about anything. So in the interest of not boring anyone with my crappy life, I'm off the site for a while.
