Well, I'm getting counseling again, so that should help. Had a bad bit of depression yesterday morning, but I'm better now. Kidney stone still hasn't passed, but the medics gave me more hydrocodone (even though when I went in I just wanted more of the generic Flomax stuff, but hey I'm not gonna turn down free meds, especially the good stuff) so that should help when it does start passing.

That's my updates.

Today I had an interaction with a fan who is in no way connected to me; not a friend-of-a-friend in any way that I can find. He told me via my Facebook page (he lives in Los Angeles) that both he and his girlfriend really enjoyed Margin Play and asked where the second book could be purchased. I gave him the link. He then asked if I'd be willing to "give his girlfriend a thrill" by emailing her to tell her that the second Eckart novel was on the way. I did.

I'm sorta-kinda famous now. It's weird, but awesome.

I got notice today that I've been denied for Medicaid. I lose my health insurance after tomorrow. I went to the marketplace website to update that I'd left my job and reapply. My old application that got stonewalled by Experian was still there, not the one I'd gone through over the phone. So I'll have to fill it all out again. Hopefully I don't have to re-verify my identity.

Update: technical difficulties stymieing me right now, and I think I will have to verify. So I get to spend an hour on the phone for my birthday.

Welcome to the club. We make just barely too much to be able to get medicaid, and not enough to afford anyhing with a less than obscene deductable. Unless i get preggers. . .which I refuse to willingly do

Well, hung out with the one girl last night, had a good time. We have tentative plans for Friday so that's good.

I hate my fucking extended family on my side sometimes. Two of my aunts are drooling right wing nut jobs of the we love Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Fox news variety. One of them is a religious nut job of the worst variety. Another aunt is almost rabidly catholic in the worst way possible. As in refused to come to my wedding because Lyre and I shared an apartment. Most of my uncles are in the same boat.

There are two exceptions. One uncle is looking after his criminal step-daughter in laws hellish offspring which are all FUBAR he is the only one who is not so uptight and crazy. The other uncle is like my father bitter and jaded by life and a time in military service. Their respective wives are pretty cool though as are they when they choose to be social.

Gave up on the public health insurance marketplace. It's pretty much broken. I don't get to apply for Medicaid, but in the grand scheme of things, a $215/mo plan isn't that expensive, and it's so much easier to apply for.

I won't be unemployed forever...

Well, had an appointment with the urology dept of Ft. Hood's hospital today. The doctor who saw me (a major who was cool as hell) told me if the stone didn't pass in about weeks he'd go in and remove it with some scope-tube-thing that apparently finds the stone and zaps it with a laser. So if I don't pass it by the 16th I get to get drugged up and go in for surgery on a Tues, whoo!

Hey it beats being at work. Even if I'm none too excited to have a tube shoved my gentleman's sausage.

Endoscopic surgery. A sight better then how they used to do it.

I'm going to change my username soon. I'm re-organizing a lot of my accounts to keep family / public separate.

So for at least the second time, I've been made a moderator at a site where I'm around more often than the people running the place and rather than respond to all my reports, they just gave me the keys.

This means that I get to spend a few hours going through nine pages of topics on a forum and combing them for spam posts that never got deleted/banned.

That would give me a headache...

I just got off the phone with a dude from DHS who is both embarrassed and appalled that Medicaid didn't cover the medical bills from my car accident and also that my emails were never answered nor my phone calls. I seriously hope that he can resolve this and get not just the bills covered, but get me reimbursed for anything I've already paid in. This is asinine.

Turned out that most of the spam was on the first page of the forum, but I still went through every thread, and did find one or two spam posts to delete, and one extra spambot to ban.

Having moderated several boards (some of them quite active), my condolences.

That's why you must never get involved with the mod business. It's like politics, except you must work hard & don't have the chance to be rich.

Paradox: Ug. Spam patrol sucks. Spam bot hunting sucks even more. Realizing that the very loosely secured account creation system is feeding spammers into it just sucks hard.
