My love for the anime grows. We had some excellent Show, Don't Tell moments towards the end, especially with the final scene between Nick and Maya. Next Saturday can't come soon enough.

Calling it now: This◊ guy is gonna be the killer of the case.

Is it just me, or does the girl with the umbrella in Phoenix's flashback look a lot like Dahlia from the third game? I really hope the anime gets a third cour at some point, ideally in the same timeslot so we can all have coffee with Godot.

I also thought of Dahlia when the girl appeared. It has been a few years since I played the third game but I remember it saying that Phoenix and Dahlia met in university, so maybe it is a change for the anime that they know each other as children?

You are right, Dahlia was a redhead and Iris had black hair so it is probably a class mate of Phoenix with a similar hairstyle.

They had to animate all those Generic Classmates in Phoenix's flashback, may as well put one of them to use.

Umbrella girl will show up in an Anime exclusive case that replace Big Top Turnabou

The important question

I think the point of umbrella girl is to show that even people who Phoenix was friends with (or at least friendly with) had turned on him. Notice how that same girl is with everyone else accusing Phoenix.

Episode 3 down.

Animation's still... Not the best, but it does at least capture all the key points of the trial. It felt hella fast paced, though. The episode ended before I realized it.

Yeah. I really feel like the anime is skipping some things but I can't remember what those things are. I'll have to play the game again to find out.

I will say that I'm disappointed that Phoenix didn't call Gumshoe a sham after the bit with the autopsy report.

I think the main thing they skipped in the first trial was having to explain how April May couldn't have seen the statue of The Thinker before (since it was made by Larry and so there are only 2 of them), it doesn't really add much so I can understand why they skipped it.

Also if I remember right the first trial also had the Bellboy testify.

At what point does he become The Bellboy Who Signed The Affidavit?

Pretty sure they skipped over that part in this episode. The next one is Day 2 of the trial and that's the final day.

I had the feeling they would try to make the case last only 3 episodes, seems like that will be the case in the end. I bet the same will apply to Turnabout Samurai as well.

If this is a 12 episode anime, saving as much runtime as possible for Turnabout Goodbyes only makes sense. They probably won't even touch Rise from the Ashes since that case is really freaking long.

Wasn't the anime going to dip into the second game too?

Cutting back on the Bellboy was criminal, and I was going to get upset.

Then Redd White opened his mouth and everything became okay.

"WHAT'S YOUR NAAAAAAAAAME?"

They skipped a looooooooot of this trial. Like, wow. Being able to see what it looks like when Maya channels someone was cool and I'm really glad that made it very subtle since it would kinda make later cases make even less sense. At least Maya is still amazing as ever.

Haven't seen the episode yet. Waiting to watch it with friends.

I don't know how subtle a transformation it is, though, since Franziska and Godot immediately recognized who she was when the change occurred.
