Well, for starters when i played saya no uta, i didnt find it disturbing at all. Not even the more violent or disturbing scenes. And i do enjoy High Octane nightmare fuel.

I don't fetishize horror tropes, but I do have a domination fetish in regards to overcoming greatly horrifying things. I must dominate these things to prove that I'm not a scardeycat.

Heh, I know a guy who made a bet with a bunch of his friends. They made a list of the most horrible and repulsive movies they could think of, and each of them had to watch one of the movies every night until all of them had gone through the whole list. (One of them didn't really click with the rest of them. "Saw?" "Not horrible enough." "Hostel?" "No." "The Human Centipede?" "Maybe . . .") There were a dozen movies on the list—the ones I can remember are I Spit On Your Grave, Cannibal Holocaust, Irreversible, Baise Moi, and A Serbian Film. Apparently, that last one was the most haunting of the lot, though Irreversible hit him pretty hard as well.

I should hope so; GK Chesterton is amazing (if not usually all that relevant to this thread) and you should go read him immediately. :D

That must have been a fun bet. So, A Serbian Film got him good. Maybe it was because an Exploitation Film?.

Also Alan Wake can be quite scary while trying a doomed Pacifist Run.

I'm discovering that I most enjoy horror games as Let's Plays. Especially with a snarky LPer who can take the piss out of them. Doubly so if they start out snarky, but get genuinely frightened. (One Eversion LPer with a cute British accent started saying "This is not a nice game" over and over, and, well . . .)
