You mean the sequel wasn't called "Haunted Mansion II: Shhhhh!" as slowbeef posits it is in the video?
Aw, man, I almost kinda wish it was, because "Shhhhh!" is probably the dorkiest subtitle imaginable.

Moon◊It was both, apparently.

It's not that it's technically worse. It's just a boring-ass slog that isn't worth it to play. To me, a boring game is far worse than a bad game. (Which is also partially why I've been kinda eh on the Afterfall Insanity videos—no amount of fireaxes can hack away at how boring that game looks to play.)
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.It depends on "how" the game is bad. I mean, Final Fantasy VIII is a pretty bad game. Yet, while the gameplay is broken and thought out so poorly that you marvel at the fact anyone even thought it up at all, it's still playable.
Sonic 2006, from what I've seen in this LP and others, is NOT playable. It's glitchy, it's full of bugs, it features a camera that actively fucks you over as bad as any of the old Resident Evils and it forces you to repeat the same levels and bosses 3 different times.
Now all of this makes for a good viewing experience where we can laugh and enjoy ourselves. But to play it? I'd never do that.
In short, I'd rather be bored with Shadow's mediocre game than hair-tearing-out frustrated with 06. That is a completely un-fun kind of bad. Consider the difference between No Fun (Shadow) and Anti-Fun (Sonic 06).

Plus the homing attack flatout tries to kill you more times than anything
pfeh
FFVIII's gameplay is fine. Its just very abuseable.
The story is less objective
Some people would say that every character being mechanically the same is not a good thing. There's even less differentiation than in VII where everyone was clearly prebuilt to fit a certain role.
There's also the fact the Junction System and Level Scaling are incompatible so that was a genius move, combing two inherently different systems where one renders the other worthless.
I've not played either, I'm basing this off the discussion I read comparing them in the RP video comment section. From what I have seen of Shadow's game, it is not even half as glitchy which is all I need to know in order to make me want to try and play it myself.

eh the Leveling and Junction systems dont work against each other at least
but yes FF has had a problem with samecharactereverywhere since FF 5 (and at least there you had Jobs to distribute)
though I dont see how ff7's characters were that different from each other either
I dunno. Barrett seemed pretty different from Aerith to me.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Short of feeding her Power Sources, I don't think you can make Aerith a physical beast. It's like Yuna in FFX - you can make her do max damage with her sissy little staff but that's clearly not how she's built.
With FFVIII though you can make anyone have max anything with absurd ease. You can get Zelll to 255 Magic or Irvine to 255 Vit or whatever else. The differences in their stat builds are negligible to begin with and are further marginalized by the fact you get abilities such as Str/HP/et. + 80%. It's ridiculous. Whereas you'd have to go out of your way to make Aerith or Yuna physical powerhouses, you can make anyone iN FFVIII anything you want with no problem at all.
Also the Junction System -does- work against the Level System because enemies take into account your level but not your junction-risen stats. Which means you can keep your party at Level 10 so all your random encounters and bosses will also be at Level 10. Meanwhile you have used the Junction System to increase your stats to Level 50 or something. So all the fights will be completely wrecked because you fooled the game essentially. And you fooled the game because junctioning and level scaling don't work together.

Oh. I was reading FF VIII as FF VII
Really need to space those letters from the numerals.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Sonic 06 does have its legit good moments, like Sonic's Kingdom Valley and Crisis City, as well as any Blaze level. Also, the True Final Boss is pretty fun.
poor sick slowbeefvoice
Anyway, the video. That device...how much time do you think he spent developing it that he could have used instead to develop his relationship with his kids?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I mean, just as a casual reminder, this is how the game was announced. The Sonic series had just won some sort of award ("Walk of Game", I think; it only lasted like a year after giving the award to Sonic as Sony had to sell the Metreon building it was located in, which has since been turned into just another generic Target store, so don't feel bad for having never heard of it). To commemorate this, Sega put forth a trailer highlighting all of Sonic's greatest hits to that point (and Sonic Heroes).
They immediately followed it up with another video showing Sonic running through Green Hill Zone, only to have somebody shoot a machine gun at the screen. Cut to Shadow, holding a pistol, who walks up to the camera and shoots it.
You couldn't have been more hilariously tone deaf if you tried. It's partly why Shadow remains so memorable to me - because it showed just how little the people making Sonic games got the very franchise they were in charge of.
I'm not making this up, either! Look!:
Oh my god. That's the best thing I've ever seen.
You know my favourite thing about Shadow? Multiple endings involve literally killing Sonic (and also Eggman, but that's slightly less absurd.) Like... you couldn't get more "edgy" if you hired Linkin Park to do the soundtrack.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."New House of Horror:
COMIC SANS
His face when he goes from "Thanks for listening" to the story proper is priceless.
Afterfall introduces its best character
Funny how this is the one Kickstarter video with the most budget, editing, and general technological competency, yet it's probably the dumbest idea with the least market out of everything they've covered.
I meant frightfearland
Got the names confused.
