I'm surprised less people use that word in that way.
On a side note, while I can't say to have seen many of their videos, I did try to watch one Game Grumps video just to see what the hype/bile was about...and I couldn't last more than a couple of minutes. I like Egoraptor's videos, he's a pretty funny guy, but I suppose I like him better scripted than when he's just letting his mouth run.

That really seemed like a role-reversal of Psycho Killer.
I really did try to get into it, but...I dunno, something was just off-putting about it to me. Maybe I should try a different video, might have just been the one I saw. What's one you like?

I think Goof Troop and Aladdin are their best playthroughs. It really is hit-or-miss overall in video quality with them though, which is why I understand the hatedom.
The only series of theirs that I give a damn about is their Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) run, and mostly for a repeat of the glorious, glorious schadenfreude I got from Pokecapn's older LP of the same title.
It has its annoying moments, though. In Sonic's Kingdom Valley, for instance, they waste several episodes trying to figure out how to play as Silver, because they're too proud to touch the hint box that shows up immediately along the first path they go have to go down - and it can't be because they didn't see it, because they deliberately avoid it 2-3 times.
On the other hand, it has this.

Okay, that convinced me to give them another shot.
Jon Tron and Egoraptor are both hilarious on their own, but there's something when they team up for Game Grumps that just doesn't work. I've chalked it up to Egoraptor being an absolutely dumbass who refuses to read directions, but I feel there's more to it than just that.
Humorously, even though Ego says he hates the Sonic series he's something of an Idiot Savant when it comes to Sonic 06. Tell him what's he supposed to do and get him to focus and he will fucking blitz through the game like nobody's business.

A lot of Let's Players are, really. I think the one that stands out the most with this is Pewdiepie. Most of his videos are crap, but the best-of montages are hilarious.
I've only seen the thumbnail, but, well, Metroid was always known for excessive blood and gore, right?
