This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~Krspace T: We cannot separately ban people from discussion pages, only discussion pages+editing. Anyhow, if people disagree with your edit you don't simply ram it through repeatedly, and your edit reasons were unfriendly.

Friendly or not, I still feel I had a point that was not properly considered by Fallen Kingdom. The MY Real Daddy edit he presented was very different from every other My Real Daddy post, it failed to explain itself properly, and Fallen Kingdom did not rectify the edit to alleviate the concerns.
My Real Daddy posts comment on things like 'making into three dimensional character', 'creating the most known storylines', and other such things I told Fallen Kingdom repeatably to add, or at least properly explain why the character had that forum as the real daddy despite a lack of any troping for the character in the information page.
Frankly Adaptation Displacement is a better fit for it than My Real Daddy.
I will not deny I wasn't super friendly, but I will defend myself in declaring my opposition to that trope warranted.

Okay, what about this as a compromise.
We change YMMV's Broken Bow 'My Real Daddy' to 'Adaptional Displacement', and I leave it at that. It covers the following
"Despite being an OC from a relatively obscure fanfic, Armani is a popular and established character in the long-running role-playing series A Gameof Gods. Players are more familiar and attached to the version played by troper Tv Tropes Noob than Xed Alpha’s version."
Much better than 'My Real Daddy', it compromises both for myself and Fallen Kingdom, and I can back to editing.

~KrspaceT: I read the example and it fits the basic criteria of My Real Daddy. As this is a audience reaction and not an objective trope, you can't contest it unless it's factually wrong. Anyway, the example itself can (and should) be discussed; the problem is that you threw up your hands at the discussion and deleted it anyway, which is not permitted, full stop. If that isn't understood, we have nothing further to talk about.
~Zero Dozer: I think that your suspension has served the necessary purpose of giving you a time-out. To get it released, we need to establish some basic rules of civility. Specifically, if you don't like something, you may express that. You do not have the right to:
- Derail the conversation to be about your dislike.
- Insult people for liking it.
- Keep bringing it up again and again without contributing anything constructive.

Secondly, your expressed opinion in that Strawman Has a Point example comes across as unfortunately worded if not actively racist. It is not acceptable to insert your political biases into our articles, especially when they reflect intolerance of race, culture, language, etc.

I don't understand what you and Fallen Kingdom saw. Nothing about your and Fallen's argument even registers as logical.

I told Fallen Kingdom several times amidst the edits and after it that the thing didn't fit. He did not acknowledge the argument at all. I pointed this out multiple times, I did the discussion along with the removal of the bad tag.
The edit was in fact factually wrong, the same way it would be wrong to explain Wangst in a Ensemble Darkhorse tag.
I'll admit I never did offer up the Adap. Displacement idea, that came to me here. But I did offer him up some suggestions on how to make the topic work.
He could explain why the RP was the real daddy, what it did for him in the edit, or something. Check the discussions, I did give him options
He did not implement them. All he did was offer up something about Thor Powers.

I'm not a positive person but I have things to gush on (Mega Man 11 is happening, after all). I can try my best not to post my paranoid rants about the community (Yeah, those rants are indeed rather paranoid).
On the six thumps you did, I've done my best to curb my wording, but after much conversation with my friends I actually admit that I came into the community in the middle of my own massive temper tantrum over those two cases (Blaz Blue and Namco) and then some.
I'll try my best to curb myself down, and I'll make sure to count on some help from Chris X, as I made friends with him due to him showing me how bad my case was.
Now, a criticism of my own. You're basically saying you left me waiting for three days and a half on purpose. The very page on what to do when you're suspended says suspensions meant "come talk to us". I came to talk with you about my case, and you suddenly decided that I should be ignored for three days? Is that it?

How is "if you live in a country, speak that country's language" racist? The only reason race comes into play is because the characters happen to be a different race. If you replace the Hispanic characters with Caucasian French-speaking characters, the point remains. If you replace the snooty white woman with a snooty Hispanic woman, the point remains.

Nothing I said was against Hispanics, any Hispanic cultures, or the Spanish language. The notion that you should speak the language of the country in which you live is fairly universal.

The definition of the trope My Real Daddy is written to apply to canon works, but this particular example is about a character from a fanfic. I see no reason why it shouldn't be considered valid, but if you disagree, you are welcome to discuss the matter productively and civilly with the other troper(s) involved. If you can't reach agreement in the article's discussion page, you can take it to Ask The Tropers to get more feedback or even the forums.
Instead, you have argued for your right to make whatever changes you want because of your absolute certainty in the correctness of your position. That doesn't fly here. Unless you modify this attitude, we have nothing else to discuss.
~Sabbat: Regardless of your intent, the example comes across as intolerant. Expecting people to speak the language of a country is a position frequently associated with racism, and it counts as importing RL politics and applying them to a fictional work, something that tends to run afoul of the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment. In other words, nobody's asking for you to start a fight, so don't start one.
