This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I don't understand why I got suspended. What did I do, and how can I avoid doing it in future?

Light Phaser: Yes, you can appeal a PM ban here. You will have to convince us, however, that restoring your privileges would be a good idea and you won't repeat your previous mistake.
Marr 965: You have issues with first person usage on the wiki. But more importantly, back in January, you wiped the entire platformer genre off the Wake-Up Call Boss page, for no discernible reason. Restoring your vandalism was an incredibly difficult task. Why did you do that?

I had no idea I'd even done that. My laptop sometimes glitches when textboxes already have something in them (erasing the text), so that might have been the problem. I'm very sorry.

Hey Marr, if you use Firefox you could try the free Lazarus Text Recovery Addon. It means you can right-click on a text box and restore a previous version of its contents - it's saved me a hell of a lot of work since I got it.
Well, that was my first offense, right? That may or may not make a difference around here, but I haven't done anything even remotely bad since then, and if I were enough of a trouble maker to get PM banned, I might have since gone and done something far worse by now elsewhere on the site. Second of all, I haven't spoken at all with Freeman since then; even prior to that, he and I almost never spoke, and the whole incident was a small joke I made that he P Med me about. I took it a bit too far, but I did ask him to stop, and I even stopped with the P Ms when he quit. I didn't even know I had been PM banned until someone sent me a message concerning a typo of all things on my troper page. But, in any event, I'd like that line of contact to be open.
Hello. I have come to realise that debating on character pages, the main pages and adding personal opinions are not allowed. I assumed it did not count with my Star Wars entries, but now I realise it do. I would like to have my editing privileges again, if you are okay with my explanation

@Hadashi: The general consensus is that your edits to Artistic License – Religion were not fair or even-handed at all and in fact reflect an agenda. In our experience, tropers with an agenda do not reform; they just get more subtle about it.
What you wrote boiled down to, "Atheists aren't afraid of being punished in the afterlife, so they have no morals." This is not only wrong but shockingly ignorant. We can't cure you of ignorance, so we're banning you.
@redjirachi: Sorry, but you know the old saw: fool us once, shame on you; fool us twice, shame on us. Good editing is not "write whatever I feel like until I get caught". I don't think we'll be restoring your editing privileges.

Ah. Well, I shouldn't edit articles with the intent of turning them into anything but objective facts-not opinion, or maybe's. That is the point I am trying to get across
So I recently got hit with an edit ban trying to edit something out of the page for my own fanfic. I know it was for Edit Warring with someone, and I know I got very snarky with the person I was edit warring with when I got the ban. However, I felt I had no other choice, as the person I was edit warring with routinely ignores everything I tell him even if I tell him something in a civil manner—which I am aware my behavior was not. (Up to this point, the offending party has ignored no less than three messages sent through the fanfiction.net PM system and through e-mail telling him to leave me alone.) Additionally, I feel that the person I was edit warring with was editing in information that no longer applies to the work in question thanks to Canon Discontinuity.
I feel that it is very unfair that I received an edit ban for trying to assert Word of God on my own creation. I understand why it happened and what I did wrong, however, and I would be interested in discussing this further.
(For reference, the page was originally created back when the Troper Works namespace still existed: when that namespace was removed, it was moved to the Fanfic index.)
Sounds like ownership issues to me. The page is the wiki's, not yours. It is about what people read in the work, not what you intended. What you accomplished.

Mostly, you've continued to be something of a Single-Issue Wonk regarding what you perceive as Character Derailment. You've edit-warred on Magical Record Lyrical Nanoha Force, calling an entry "delusionally optimistical" simply because it didn't bash said character, for example.
Furthermore, you've already had your second chance. Third chances are rarely given, so I hope you have a very good reason why you should be given one.

0k, yeah, I have been active there, a lot of people have been active there. It's a hot subject. What you may not have noticed is that I don't actually pick on atheism as a belief, I have actually done quite a bit of work clarifying the 'none' section in the Artistic License – Religion, and I thought what I wrote was very fair and even-handed. I have otherwise removed a lot of natter from those various pages.
If I got the Ooots thing wrong, then I'm sorry. Just go ahead and remove it. I'm also sorry about the alt acount. I created that account ages ago because I was going to change my name but then decided not to. I only used that account because I was annoyed at being banned in such an arbitrary way. I went and checked the image picking thread and saw absolutely no sign of any argument over the image chosen, so I just assumed it would be 0k since TV Tropes encourages you to just go and fix things yourself. This is really a bit over the top considering all I did was swap a rubbish photoshoped picture of Shatner for one that better illustrated the trope.
Yes, I have been banned before, but TV Tropes is very quick to ban people and they decided at the time that I hadn't done anything worth banning for (I moved some text from what I assumed was a duplicate page to the main page of a work). I have also been a good contributor in the past (I more-or-less single-handedly cleared up the mess that was Literary Agent Hypothesis).
