This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.

If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

The Forum Rules apply here.

Don'ts

  • Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
  • Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
  • Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
  • Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
  • Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

So, you want Video Game conversations turned on? Very well, I can do that. OTC and the wiki will remain off, until/unless we resolve the remaining issues.

So what issues would those be?

I seem to have been suspended again and while there could of been an edit war going on, my edit was correct it's just I had a mix up on words which made it go away. I added it back because it was right and it was just a mix up on my part. I even added that the trope is correct (Basically the trope was that Jessie wears less revealing clothing then Misty therefore making it Sensible Heroes, Skimpy Villains) on one of the notes. I was thinking of using the Discussion board but I didn't know if it was necessary for a mix up especially because it's an unpopular page. Also I did do a ZCE so I don't know if that's the reason either but I remember trying to fix that.

I didn't think I would get a suspension so soon considering that I was sticking to the rules or at least trying to as much as possible.

I wanted to ask, if my suspension could be lifted. That was about a week ago. I'm not sure if that is considered enough or not. I realize that it was because of a discussion/war (admittedly also not a good thing) on the headscratcher page ended up with name calling and I apologize for that and it won't be happening again.

I also wanted to ask on how to tackle with that specific discussion. Should I just let it be, even though I do think that the last entry is not correct? Or should I take it to the discussion page to avoid the page getting flooded with edits? Or should I just ask in the forum for a final verdict?

Reyn Time 250: Your latest suspension is because of your edits on the Pokemon-related articles. You are giving too much emphasis and details on the naughty bits. Context is context, but where such items are concerned, the tone we aim for is rather clinical and dry. See No Lewdness No Prudishness.

bandersnitch: Headscratchers are tricky. They are discussion format on the wiki side. If something is incorrect, I would seek input from the rest of the community - discussion pages, the forum thread, Ask The Tropers etc. I really cannot make a case on who was right or wrong, but if you feel you're losing your temper, it is better to step away from the keyboard and start typing when it's blown over. If you are in agreement, I will lift the suspension.

Ah okay. That makes more sense. It's hard to describe why it's not for kids without pointing out how strong the fanservice is and some of the sexual aspects. Maybe I should tone down the mention of the bath scene because that is pretty strong by removing the "Groping herself" part. Maybe change it to "Massaging her breasts" instead. That's more SFW.

Hi. I have come to ask if I can be unsuspended. It has been almost a week, and I wish to edit again. I realized the reason I was suspended was due to prolonged use of Zero Context Examples. I didn't know about being suspended here, and I didn't expect this to happen.

I also wanted to ask what I should do before putting up an edit. Should I discuss whether it should go in first? And what would be a good description for it? If I can't decide, should it not go up at all?

Thanks.

[up][up][up] The problem is that there is a counter-claim that these supposed sexy bits in these works don't actually exist, and you're making them up.

Ah okay, it seems to be Larkman having something against me. I don't know what goes on but whenever I make an edit he decides to follow my edits. Anyway about the edits I made on Yancy, I swear I can see it just slightly. That is skin being shown at the bottom, it doesn't look like a typical white top. It looks very much like human skin and not a top below there. It even has a similar shade. That doesn't look like a top underneath to me and the white part of the outfit ends there. To say I'm contradicting myself is the complete opposite of what I'm doing. If anything getting rid of that trope is contradicting the picture.

[up] Just so I'm clear (as an outside party to the discussion), are you trying to argue that that character is an example of Bare Your Midriff? If so, I have to disagree, because that little pic of her is cropped from this and that area is clearly not the same color as her skin, which disqualifies her from the trope.

Oh okay. It was hard to see because of the cropped image. I won't make that mistake next time and properly research what the character looks like so I don't put wrong information. This is entirely my fault and I am sorry. As for the stuff on Electric Tale of Pikachu is that alright to put on without going over the edge onto Lewdness and Prudeness?

~Professor Detective: In writing an article about a web show, it is useful if that show actually exists. Nobody can find anything on You Tube or Tumblr under the name "Professor Detective". You seem to have created your account for the sole purpose of pimping a non-existent show and inserting references to it all over the work it's supposedly derived from. We call that Auto-Erotic Troping and it's not permitted.

Hmm. Seems you were deleting Token Religious Teammate on Characters.Project X Zone 2 Brave New World without an edit reason. That's the edit warring part. The other part, not directly mentioned in your suspension reason but still relevant, is the copious quantity of Zero Context Examples you were adding to that same article.

~Neko Hybrid: Here are a few cases, copied from the edit history:

Does not give any details of how the trope is used, just says that it is. When a trope happens is not context in and of itself.
Again, just asserts the trope is in play without details.
  • Knife Nut: Along with using Akujiki, Hotsuma also likes to spam a lot of kunais, which he never seems to run out of.
Questionable context. Knife Nut is not just a character who uses knives as a primary weapon, but a character who fetishizes them.
Questionable context. That trope should be a defining attribute of the character, not merely something they do once or twice, or in certain specific situations.
  • Genki Girl: Xiaoyu. Chun Li worries she may look old in comparison...
Doesn't provide any details to show that Xiaoyu is a Genki Girl.

Oh, and you also edit warred over Hannibal Lecture vs. Breaking Speech. Worth noting is that both of those are story tropes, not characterization tropes. Unless giving them is a defining characteristic of the character in question, the example should go on the main page.

Telling Getta via PM to "Now leave. It. ALONE. " was the last straw that made it clear this had to stop.

~Reyn Time 250: Here's what we've concluded through investigation. Seems there are two versions of that manga: one for the Japanese market and the other for foreign markets. The export version is significantly cleaner than the Japanese one. So, whether What Do You Mean, It's for Kids? applies would depend on whether it is marketed inappropriately in either case. I don't know much about the Japanese shonen market, but if the export version contains nothing particularly objectionable, then that trope cannot apply to it.

That said, your examples for Underboobs and the like are disturbingly intimate, as if you're getting off while you're writing them. That's unacceptable in any case, regardless of context.

"Warring" on Hannibal Lecture vs. Breaking Speech? That never happened. I only put the first entry in, he just revised it to the second. I never tried changing that.

Cat Girl: When she becomes Shartos. Does not give any details of how the trope is used, just says that it is. When a trope happens is not context in and of itself.

Cat Girl: Aty in her Shartos form after ending her attack. This form is also used as one of the "Cat-Eared Dancers" in the ending.

She's Got Legs: And she knows how to use them. Again, just asserts the trope is in play without details.

Thought the text link would be enough.

Knife Nut: Along with using Akujiki, Hotsuma also likes to spam a lot of kunais, which he never seems to run out of. Questionable context. Knife Nut is not just a character who uses knives as a primary weapon, but a character who fetishizes them.

Okay, so not just simply a primary knife user.

Guttural Growler: At times, he may growl out Aura's name. Questionable context. That trope should be a defining attribute of the character, not merely something they do once or twice, or in certain specific situations.

Actually, that entry had been empty. I just added that in.

Guttural Growler: Always lets out growling sounds when he speaks. At times, he may growl out Aura's name.

Genki Girl: Xiaoyu. Chun Li worries she may look old in comparison... Doesn't provide any details to show that Xiaoyu is a Genki Girl.

Odd, I thought I saw the same entry for the previous game character list.
