This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I don't understand why I am banned from the Nunnery. I haven't gotten any warnings and while I have said some controversial things in the past I've always made sure to back off when asked. If it is about the recent topic if you go through you'll see that I've tried to explain my viewpoint as politely as possible while explaining the differences and that I've even asked people to explain to me why what I was saying was wrong. As such I don't understand why I've been banned and if it has anything to do with what I said to Sixth then I'm sorry but I don't think what I said was any worse than anything anyone else has said to another troper in the tread.

What is happening?
Already 2 days have passed and nobody used the links I mentioned to remove content that is inappropriate to the site (with that, I mean the general examples I and others posted). I think that there are some other issues that either prevent or make it slower than usual and I would like to help you with that. The only problem is that I can't do much yet. It's almost as if an evil spirit controls this wiki. If so, can anyone please help me exorce it?
Hydrix, you need to understand that we are under no obligation to make edits that you request in this thread.
In addition, you've now been suspended twice for the same thing. Do you have any particular reason why we should give you one of our very rare third chances?

I'm not saying that you should unsuspend me, neither that you should do what I said.
I just want to help people like me, by showing towards them that folders that contain general examples are not allowed to be on the wiki (and reassuring that you are not a bad person for doing so). I did just Follow the Leader, because I was too afraid of getting suspended for removing those folders and examples (because there are a lot of those on the topics I write about and no, I did not start the trend).

Hydrix, there are lots of people who can clean stuff up. We don't need you for that task. You aren't as valuable to us as you seem to wish us to think. We've got a whole projects forum for fixing things like "general" examples, and lots of people willing to take those things on.
@Trope Licious: I'll release your suspension but we are taking violations of Handling Spoilers very seriously now. We have to get the message out.
@Hell Kill Us All: We'd like to be very clear here. We don't need new work articles nearly as much as we need good work articles. We have the Wiki Sandbox if you want to draft stuff up and preview it, but when you publish it to a real article, it needs to be in good shape. Understand?

Thanks for telling me there's a forum for that. I didn't know. Please tell me where I can find it.
Secondly, I know that I'm pretty much worthless when it comes to editing. That is also the reason why I wished for someone else with the magical gift of being able to edit to remove those examples.
I could also say that I want to edit again, but not yet. I want to wait until the tropes I frequently visit are cleaned out of general examples, so that I don't keep adding general examples myself.

@hydrix: If you are unable to exercise self-control enough to follow the rules even when confronted with bad examples, then I'm not sure we want you editing at all. Let's not forget that this is the second suspension for the same behavior. You're going to remain suspended for quite some time.

Oh..sorry about that. I thought that the % symbol was some sort of old editing mechanic that now scraped but still there and uncleaned so the examples got undisplayed. Only encountered one there so far. Definitely won't do again.

That's why we have places like Ask The Tropers and the forums where you can ask questions.
Whenever a page has been edited to comment out ZCE's, there is also a commented note at the very top of the article saying what was done and giving instructions. You need to pay attention, not just make assumptions. Look before you leap.
I'll remove the suspension now that you know, but let's please not have this happen again.

I can quite understand my suspension (and am therefore glad that it only takes some time).
Even so you: a) Rejected my request to say where I can find a forum where I can delete all general examples that have been given. b) I think you underestimate the sheer amount of general examples there are and the impact this leaves on many tropers (including me). Of course I would not go all-in for 1 general example, but after seeing more than 50 of them on one page (see It's Popular, So It Sucks! if you don't believe there can be that many) you have to be extremely inhuman to remove all of it, especially if you know that you would risk suspension for removing those. It is after all difficult to believe in such a rule after seeing all of those general examples.

Just because we haven't cleaned up every example of a rule being broken does not invalidate that particular rule.

I know I haven't been intentionally overlooked, but it's been a while, so I'll reiterate what I said earlier: I'll cut out the edit warring and the rudeness (which, in my defense, I think were momentary lapses; I've been around a while and haven't had these issues until recently), and I'll do my best to observe Clear, Concise, Witty, which I'm glad I found out about, but which I was surprised wasn't on the main Administrivia page. Thanks, and, again, I apologize. I really enjoy editing and feel like I usually manage to contribute, and would really like to get back to both.

I agree, Deathbeatloser 22, but that makes it hard to believe in this rule, which is why I want to go to that forum thread where they can clear examples up for you. I just don't know how that particular thread is called. Can you help me?

Hello.
As directed, I have waited a week ruminating on my conduct before making this appeal.
A week ago, I made a bad lapse in judgement and taste and committed deliberate vandalism in my troper page. It was my third late night in a row, and I convinced myself it would be harmless fun to take some pot-shots at myself and my friends by changing my troper page. But what I ended up doing wasn't witty, or clever and certainly not harmless.
The page was given to me to present and express myself positively, and in a horrendously thought-out attempt at “irony”, I abused it. My edits were profane and offensive and far below the standards this wiki upholds. My intentions were not malicious, but what I typed certainly was. Insulting other tropers reflects badly on the wiki and myself, regardless of context. Encouraging other tropers to do the same shortly afterwards was nothing short of moronic. I cannot picture that page now without cringing, and am very glad it is gone. Upon waking up the next morning with a clear head, I felt embarrassment for putting such an eyesore onto the wiki and resolved to quietly revert the changes before discovering my bounce.
The page deserved to go, and I deserve punishment for such a display of disrespect to the wiki. If my privileges are restored, I will make any concessions required to resume the supportive editing approach I have kept up for the years I have been on this site. I am willing to help with site cleanups and take a more active role in improving this site to make up for this. I will certainly avoid further edits while sleep-deprived to avoid such a fiasco occuring again. I love the wiki and I love contributing to such a group, and it hurts that in one night of poor judgement I would damage my relationship with it.
There is nobody to blame for this but me and I fully acknowledge my failing. I would like to apologise with all seriousness and sincerity and appeal for the chance to have my privileges on the site restored.
