Brand new article that needs an image, but I'm having trouble finding one. Preferably one where the wielder looks really happy to be causing explosions/mayhem, since that's a common part of the characterization.

What about either the opening scene from Return Of The Jedi with Leia disguised as the bounty hunter holding a thermal detonator to extort more money from Jabba. Or perhaps a picture of The Demoman.

Is the Star Wars pic even an example? Everyone knew that it would kill everyone in the room even the user.

The trope is about throwing explosives as if it were nothing, right?

Dang... How many video games have I played where an enemy constantly threw bombs or dynamite as if it were nothing?

What about Bomber Man? I know the bombs can kill you but it sort of fits the trope.

[up] It's not an example because this is a Weapon Of Choice trope - which means the character needs to use thrown explosives almost exclusively, not just once. Plus you can't really tell it's a bomb in the image; it requires knowledge of the scene in question to "get."

The second could work, but I'd prefer someone with a hand-held grenade rather than a grenade launcher if one can be found.

EDIT: An image of Bomber Man could work very well, actually.

EDIT EDIT: Hmmm, this may be two tropes. One for bomb wielders and one for "precision guided grenades."

How's this one? I couldn't find one with stuff blowing up in the background.

Barring a pic of Mario carrying a Bob-omb, the Bomberman pic is fine.

Here's an appropriate Magic card illustration. (It's even out of the context of the Magic card!)

ETA: Oh, and the derived card is Commando Raid from Onslaught.

Bomberman or the Magic card's image (sans the card) works.

I like the magic card image. Bomberman is incomprehensible to me, since I don't know the work.

Never mind, now I see it in the bomberman one. I still like the Magic card better

Seems like the MTG image has the most support. I don't think we need a crowner, do you guys?

Depends on how it will look wiki sized if it gets my vote or not.

A good shot of Mario would be the best IMO.

...Mario isn't an example of the trope, so that would be misleading.

Here it is resized.

[up][up] Hmm I guess so although in some games its one of his only attacks. But yeah >< sorry

[up] Let's not start doing that... any copyright images we ask the author right? Although Wizards of the coast would most likely say no. (there were images I was going to suggest for The Future that had CBS written on them and quickly nixed the idea.)

I thought we only needed to ask for permission if it was fanart?

Eh, we've been moving away from copyrighted images recently...

All images are copyrighted in some way, even if the copyright isn't on the image, unless they are explicitly public domain. The exception is fanart, which is actually an IP violation. If we're moving away from copyrighted images, then we're left with only the pathetically small pool of public domain images.

I'm fairly certain the use on the wiki falls under Fair Use for commentary, education, and/or research.

I definitely don't feel comfortable removing the copyright notice on that image, either.

So, can someone tell me why an image with a visible copyright is bad?

I don't want to be pushy, but this thread and the page lock on Avatar The Last Airbender are all that are standing in the way of a cut of the old name.

But all images that are not public domain are copyrighted, regardless of whether the copyright is on the image.
