@Raineh: I thought that the second I read the bit about Haruhi being surprised at how sincere the written confession was. Makes me think maybe Kanae's been wanting an opportunity like this all along. waii

Also, not that I didn't have a huge grin on my face when I saw Haruhi pull out the hairpin, but am I the only one that thought Kanae had the hairpin all along?

"Entry vector" -> "the way to approach smth." -> "attitude"?
I thought the only thing Yuki/Haruhi directly changed aboutt her was the chibification and depowering?

I was surprised that Haruhi didn't just claim that the whole "S-class relationship" was a cover for her actually liking girls. It probably has some truth to it, and telling them about the Big Damn Harem seems riskier.

Also, human natural language sure is bad at precisely conveying many levels of abstraction. That has to be a big reason why Kuyou is so hard to understand.

Haruhi is compulsive. Now that she's talking with people, things have been reined in a lot, but give her chance to plan on her own... XD

[up][up][up]As we've seen before with Haruhi's powers what she directly changes and accidentally changes aren't always the same thing. Take for instance Koizumi's powers. Not even she was aware that she changed them to being always active so long ago. Inadvertently directing Asakura into having a Morality Pet seems small in comparison.

I know, but changing Achakura's attitude to make Nonoko be her Morality Pet seems like Mind Manipulation to me, which was nixed as a solution by Haruhi from the get-go, because she wanted her to keep her free will and develop positive feelings on her own.

Provide the means for Asakura to actually be receptive to that, rather than an immutable stabby wall of doom? Also by accident.

I'd say that the change in Asakura's attitude could well be by her own free will. The newly-installed ability to feel negative emotions let our chibi interface feel concern, (M.R.) Nonoko was just the first person she felt concern for. And so, on her own free will, Asakura decided to follow through with this concern. That is, made (M.R.) Nonoko's well-being her priority.

As for the exact details, I've always liked the answer given in the last panel of this comic. I think there's even a trope for that.

Okay, but that doesn't seem like altering an "entry vector" to me. Man, Kuyou-speak can be very weird in its metaphors/allegories — no offense to Kuyou-chan, of course!

Remember that Asakura's memetic link is inherited from Shamisen - who spent a good part of his life with Nonoko.

It's really straightforward.

No evidence of Haruhi being the actual origin behind that memetic link, though. Kuyou specifically states that Haruhi was the one who made the alteration to Asakura's "entry vector", and the way she puts it makes it sound like Haruhi had no idea that it would be Nonoko who eventually "capture" Asakura in her "orbit".

... Maybe I'm better off asking Durandall himself to translate that part of Kuyou's explantion?

Since when did Asakura get anything from Shamisen? Have I forgotten something?

When she was trying to get to the school with Nonoko's help, remember? She had to turn Shamisen into a Mega Neko.

She heard Nonoko's mother crying out for her daughter shortly after recieving the memetic string from the cat. That's when development of genuine guilt about her actions and protectiviness towards Nonoko occurred.

Yes there are, both on Danbooru and off. I'll have to post them tomorrow though, it's already past 4 AM here. They will be posted though, just to let people know.

If you guys had an Asa(cha)kura on your Android background, how would you like her to be? Full screen (torso) or small and walking around like a screenmate? What would she do?

[down] Too bad; but don't be selfish, if not for yourself, do it for Durandall. Google can help you. Search for "live backgrounds android" or something.

I'd prefer to be able to switch between the two. For example, mini-Asakura walking around the desktop (maybe pointing at things occasionally), which "zooms in" for important notifications.

Speaking about devices and Durandall, in MGLN, there is a Storage Device named Durandall.

(that was uncalled, yes)
