Bhelen also on the spot either restores your status or proclaims you awesome
Harrowmont and co apparently take till the end of the game to come to the decsion that maybe you deserve to be recognized for your feats
Actually, I don't see why people would consider Bhelen untrustworthy in this case in the first place. His interests ally with yours given that apart from that one smartass noble all dwarves realize that a Blight is a disaster for more than just the surface. Especially since if Fereldan falls his kingdom is the closest to the new darkspawn headquarters. Further, you're too valuable to piss off. Grey Wardens make good allies and if you happen to be Fereldan Nobiliity or some such thing all the better.
Oh, and there's also that time those silly elves decided not to help out during the Blight and had their entire country destroyed by an Exalted March. That's something to remember.
Arha; I can see that.
So here I am playing "The Descent" DLC and suddenly one of the dwarves is talking to me in the voice of Solid Snake. I almost started looking for Quiet or Diamond Dog.

Who watches the watchmen?I'm faffing about in the Hinterlands while The University of Orlais war table mission completes. I've been kinda rushing through Act I because I want to get to Skyhold faster. I've barely touched the other regions yet. Is there anything other than that war table mission that I need to be sure to get before moving to Skyhold?
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I'm liking my Inquisitor. He has a profoundly unique voice from Hawke and Fighter, which is what I wanted for him. His scholarly, intellectual qualities are enhanced by the fact that Male Elf Voice 1 sounds suspiciously like Benedict Cumberbatch from Sherlock, which is hilarious because he's so religious and that particular character is not. The character is a follower of faiths; he believes in Andraste, he follows the elven gods, he even sees some merit in the Qun. He's an omni-believer who gets rankled by people who are either anti-religious or religiously inflexible in equal quantities.
He supports the Dalish ways, naturally, but he also supports the Chantry and the Qun where he sees merit in their ways, and he strongly disapproves of the intolerance present in all three. He supports the reformation of the Circle of Mages but he wants to see Mages given equal rights of governance within. He supports the ideology that magic exists to serve man but wonders if the words may have been misconstrued. He even supports political wanking like the Orlesian "Game" on the grounds that politics is just another faith, with its own sacred tenets and obscure rituals.
And he is very proud to identify as the Herald of Andraste. He's going to be terribly disappointed when he finds out who the woman was.
If they met in a bar, Mahanon would grow weary of conversing with Fighter very quickly but there would be little hostility between them. Mahanon and Hawke would probably get in a fight over the potential merits of blood magic. Mahanon would start the unpleasantry by correcting an extreme statement about blood magic being universally terrible, while Hawke would throw the first literal punch.
EDIT: Centrism! That's the word I'm looking for. He's a religious centrist.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.....I am now wondering how many characters/people like that exist out there.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!Oh probably quite a few. I try to balance everyone in the view of my inquisitor. This obviously does not make everyone happy.
For example Sera. I actually hate this character. She is an unmitigated psycho often acting outside of reason and without care for the consequences.
Who watches the watchmen? It's a new experience for me. As a misotheist, it feels weird every time my character affirms the existence of Andraste or is like, "Fascinating. Teach me more about the dangerous eldritch spirits that should probably be avoided at all costs. I am eager to understand their perspective of reality."
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I don't think wanting to know about spirits is a religious matter. If anything, it's the opposite since it's really just that the most popular religion ascribes them religious significance. Actually worshiping or demonizing them is another story, but your PC doesn't sound interested in them in those terms.
It seems odd you'd be affected at all by affirming Andraste's existence, considering that she's an actual historical person; the spirits inhabiting the Temple of Sacred Ashes in Origins confirm that; spirits reflect history and important events, and the spirits you encounter in the Temple reflect important people in Andraste's life, including her parents, siblings, and husband.

Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.I think he means affirming her as the bride of the maker and the one who saved you from the temple and so forth. Her being a historical figure is not in any question whatsoever so I don't know why he'd mention that. It's like saying you believe in Richard Nixon.

If that was indeed what he was referring to, then I retract my statement. The phrasing of "the existence of Andraste" as opposed to her status of being the Bride of the Maker made it a little easy to confuse.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Yeah, sorry, that is what I meant. Andraste is a historical figure and the spirits are real things that exist, but they're also the focus of a lot of religious hearsay. Solas is quick to point out that everything you know about spirits is wrong and I'm just as quick to point out that there's no reason not to assume the same thing about whatever Solas is trying to feed my character, but Mahanon just takes it all in with a pen and paper going, "Mmm, interesting, tell me more."
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.So far, Mahanon has made some of the same choices I made on my first run and some different ones.
Same choice: he supported The Iron Bull protecting the Chargers over the Dreadnought. He believes in standing true to what you believe in, but the argument between Bull and Gatt makes it clear that Bull may pay lip service to the Qun but what he believes in is his men.
Different choice: Knight-Captain Denam's judgment. My first character recruited Denam after all was said and done, wanting to put him to use. Mahanon was less forgiving of his crimes against the Order, against the Chantry, and against Andraste herself. He exiled Denam to the Sea of Ash as is customary for Templars who betray their principles.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.So I don't know if you all have heard, but Greg Ellis is safe and sound after vanishing earlier this week.
I wasn't aware he was ever missing.
I just found out via Facebook and came here to pass the news on.
so... I recently finished the Trespasser DLC for Inquisition and holy shit I did not see any of that coming! we need Dragon Age 4 NOW! plus, that and Descent really restored my faith in the game, the "single player MMO" style of the the main game and Jaws really left me a bit disenfranchised, especially since there are single player games that do the "explore a large map with markers and enemies of varying strength" thing near perfectly, such as The Witcher games, now I think I'll do a religious fundamentalist run...
oh and we need more Hawke, Snarky Hawke always has been one of my favourite protagonists and I want to know what happened at Weisshaupt
advancing the front into TV TropesI just bought Dragon Age 2 on Saturday. I can't wait to play it. I would like to know what to expect playing this game.
well... have you played Dragon Age Origins? as gameplay wise it's nothing like that, and I actually prefer it, hated the slow arduous micromanagement of the first game... and the story is quite dark and very gritty, but damn good at the same time, really, just read the games page on this site with Show Spoilers off

advancing the front into TV TropesHow much you like Dragon Age ][ will depend on certain factors:
- What, exactly, you liked and disliked about Dragon Age: Origins.
- Your ability to overlook the game's rushed look and mook encounter design.
- How much you like or care about ]['s diversions from the Bioware formula.

Well, I'm at the final battle. I'm almost done with the game.
Well, I finally finished origins today. I decided not to do the ritual that Morrigan wanted me to do. Instead, I let Alistair slay the archdemon. I played the game as a female elven mage. When Queen Anora asked me what I wanted, I told her I wanted the circle of magi to be free.
Overall, I really like the game and I can't wait to start Dragon Age 2.

As the saying goes the proof is in the pudding who is ultimately better for the dwarves. Bhelen may be a shady asshole but he does good by the rest of the dwarves.
