I dunno, I'd still think we should ask for artist permission in cases like this.
We might still need a cropped selection, though, because the full image would be compressed into illegibility at wiki size.
Isn't it OK if we use less than half of the work?

Yeah, the text is completely illegible.
Seems that OP only tried to shorten it by height instead of by width, which... doesn't really help much.
