~The Mayor Of Simpleton has given others permission to launch this draft as long as the OP has been credit to them.

Mayor's OP:

Talent Show Version is a trope about, as the description puts it, "an edited, cut-down version of a song used in a Talent Show, where each competitor is limited to a certain time." I don't know enough about Talent Shows to have an idea of what this is, but it has accumulated only 9 wicks since 2008, has poor formatting straight from around that era of TV Tropes, and appears to have been created without TLP.

I propose either yarding/sending to TLP or a cut. What does everyone else think?

I did watch talent shows back in the day and I don’t think this is noteworthy beyond a line in the Talent Show description. Of course they don’t have unlimited running time and need to keep things moving, so you’re not going to get to belt out a five minute song. Cut.

This sounds way too specific. I prefer to just cut it, and potentially elaborate Talent Show itself.

Yeah [tup] to a cut. Didn't know if this was tropeworthy, but it seems like it isn't so I'll just vote cut.

[tup] to elaborating Talent Show as well per [up]

Would an edited-down version of a song be an actual trope?

[up] I think censorship versions are covered by Bowdlerization.

Maybe we could have a Definition-Only Radio Edit trope? I think it'd be too common for examples, but it's definitely a thing.

The only way I could see this working as a trope is if it was expanded to include similar ideas like radio stations playing shorter versions of songs, or movies being cut down to fit a 2 hour time slot (plus commercials). But even that idea doesn't seem particularly tropeworthy, and Edited for Syndication sort of covers that already. So either cut or maybe merge into Edited for Syndication.

Might as well waive the Three-Day Rule since this is a wick-starved page and go ahead with the cut.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.

And locking up since it's done. Feel free to Yard if necessary since that's a free action.
