I wish MH and YGHBH had gone through TRS at the same time because their discussion seems to be going hand-in-hand but oh well.
Would it be a possible course of action to redefine Multicolored Hair (as opposed to creating new tropes) or do we think it's beyond that point?
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsI mean, again, You Gotta Have Blue Hair also has a premade wick check. I don't see why we can't discuss it here; other threads have made weirder lumps in the past.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness~Vandagyre slotted in You Gotta Have Blue Hair in the TRS Queue. They have an OP ready with the wick check. Vandagyre, would you be alright if we used the check for/discussed the trope in this thread instead?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI mean, it's up to the mods more than anything, I just don't see why we can't lump it.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessNote: Dye Hard is not written to cover characters who dye their hair in general, for x reason, its about people who dye for acting roles or to put on a show.
It needs a TRS in of itself for that.
- Characters who dye their hair in general, potentially to avoid persecution or discrimination like Setsuna in Negima! or Nikki in the new Guardians Of The Galaxy Game. Or to be a Yankii like Kanji in Persona 4.
- And Actors who dye their hair for a role or to put on a show.
The latter is Trivia for a given work, the former is a character trope.
EDIT: we dont have a Yankii trope but here is a wiki on it

Dyeing your hair is PSOC.
Dyeing your hair to hide something is Dye or Die.
I guess we are ready for a crowner as it has been three days since this thread was made. Disambiguation seems to be the only option suggested so far.
Macron's notesI hooked one for whether to disambiguate.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.False, that's Dyeing for Your Art. Read the descriptions, please.
Now, apparently Dye Hard is indeed trivia, but it's still broader than you think it is and according to the bottom has crossover with You Gotta Have Blue Hair? So the actual trope is just sort of vague nonsense, but it's not the trope about dyeing for an acting job.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDye Hard's fictional examples just appear to be "Character dyes their hair" for the most part so it probably needs TRS as well.
Macron's notesSince this trope has been around since 2008 and has over 2,000 wicks, I think it might be a good idea to keep the crowner running for longer than the standard three days. I doubt it'll have any real effect on the outcome, but at least more people will have an opportunity to vote.
Maybe pop it into ATT if it hasn't already?
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsThe crowner was already advertised on ATT. I don't think we need to do that again.
Macron's notesYeah, I don't think we need to do anything else here.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Calling in favor of disambiguating.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Proposed disambig text:
- Distinctive Appearances: A character's multicolored hair makes them stand out from the rest of the cast.
- Duality Motif: A character's multicolored hair symbolizes their dual nature.
- Locked into Strangeness: A character's hair becomes multicolored after they are exposed to a strange or supernatural occurrence.
- Mark of the Supernatural: A character's multicolored hair indicates their supernatural or otherworldly nature.
- Meaningful Appearance: A character multicolored hair indicates something about their personality or background.
If a direct wick has led you here, please correct the link so that it points to the corresponding article.
I wanted to add Skunk Stripe since that was the subtrope to Multicolored hair but it's just "a character has a light colored streak in their hair" so I might do a wick check and TRS thread for it later.
Macron's notesI used that text for the disambiguation page and moved the original contents to Sandbox.Multicolored Hair.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Nonconformist Dyed Hair is up and running; I added it to the disambig.
The redirects have been cleared out.
Down 1231.
To kill two birds with one stone, I have been dewicking this trope with You Gotta Have Blue Hair wicks.

Macron's notesDown 399.
Characters.Monster High has 43 Multicolored Hair wicks... I think I will save that one for last.

Macron's notesAlright, wick clean up is done. All that's left are sandboxes. Locking up.
Macron's notes
Crown Description:
Multicolored Hair frequently attracts Zero Context Examples and may be redundant with other tropes. What should be done with it?
I've seen "unnatural hair color as some genetic accident that makes other people look at em weird" (The House of the Spirits, Cruella, I thiiink Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba?), so that might be another one.
And yeah, "make it into a setting trope" was gonna be my preferred action for You Gotta Have Blue Hair. But that's for that TRS.
Anyhoo, trope about rebels with hair dye coming to a launch pad near you.
