It seems people aren't good with a rename overwhelmingly.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Calling the crowner in favor of keeping the name the same.
The only change we're doing is expanding the definition to cover non-serial works, and we still need to clean up misuse.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I updated the description to account for the fact that non-serial works are now allowed, and removed wicks to Cerebus Syndrome per what was previously said about Cerebus Syndrome being for serial works (meaning this is no longer a subtrope of it).
Here are the wicks to go through.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.oh joy.
e: I've noticed the wick cleaning summary

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThis is what I added to TRS Wick Cleaning:
- Only applies to villains whose introduction causes a lasting Tone Shift that makes an initially lighthearted work significantly darker. If the Tone Shift is short-lived or only occurs in scenes featuring the villain, remove the example.
It's possible that I missed something since I only reviewed the previous crowner's results instead of the whole thread, so feel free to correct me if I missed anything and also feel free to revise the TRS Wick Cleaning entry.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. The problem with not renaming is that most Tropers won’t notice anything has changed, so unless we have a dedicated cleanup thread to delete misuse, I expect this to still be horribly misused. For instance, the FNAF “examples” should not be up at all, as the series is dark from the beginning of game 1.
Come to think of it, maybe Darker Tone Shift Villain could have been a decent name.
Anyway, I will go through the wicks and start cutting the obvious misuse.

One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.Just to clarify, before I remove anything I shouldn't: is it still the case that, if a work opens gently and seemingly light-hearted, but was intended from the outset to get darker as the work carries on, then there's also no Knight of Cerebus either. Is it still the case, or are we say that a Knight of Cerebus herald's the tone shift, regardless of whether the creators have decided to change a work's direction, or planned the shift from the very beginning (thus making the Knight of Cerebus a Herald Of The Main Plot)?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The only change we made is allowing examples from non-serial works, so all that matters is that the character signals a lasting tone shift that makes the work darker, as opposed to either short-lived tone shifts or tone shifts that only happen when the character is present.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. If I had a measurement, I'd just use a character that tells that the "good" Prolonged Prologue stops. (aka cue Doomed Hometown or Wake-Up Call Boss).

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAh, that makes sense. Thanks.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. How is the wick cleaning going? I’m helping out a little, but it would help to have tropes more familiar with the works in question.
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord. It might be a good idea to make a sandbox to keep track of which namespaces have been cleaned, since the name hasn't been changed.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. So I was looking at some KOC entries and I found this one on Baywatch (2017).
- Knight of Cerebus: Victoria Leeds is a murderous psychopath and crime lord, and clashes greatly with the film's increased focus on comedy (the show had the occasional criminal showing up, so she wouldn't have been too odd there).
This seems to fit on the surface but the problem this movie is rated R despite being comedic. So I am not sure if it fits and if it does not I can't think of a trope it does because this seems like some trope but not sure which.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesDoes this have a sandbox for keeping track of cleanup, similarly to how the Actually Pretty Funny thread has Sandbox.Actually Pretty Clean?
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I'm sorry to just drop by like this but what will be done to the Cerebus Syndrome trope? That one isnt as misused as Knight Of Cerebus as far as I know and it's a real trope even outside of TV Tropes.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Nothing, unless it gets its own thread in the future.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. And given how misused that is, I will most likely take it to TRS myself.
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.I'm also curious about that and I assume there's no sandbox yet tracking what to clean?
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'm leaning toward no since I got no answer when I tried asking, so it wouldn't hurt to make one.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. We should also probably make a cleanup thread, too.
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord. If other tropes aren't going to be brought up to own TRS in near future, I'd say to leave this for Cerebus-wide Cleanup.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'm just going to close the thread in favor of deferring to the cleanup thread, now that I know there is one.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
Crown Description:
The previous rename attempt for Knight Of Cerebus failed. Should we try to continue with the rename, or should we retract the decision to rename? Vote up to retry the rename, and vote down to keep the name the same.
We already voted on what to do with the definition and only decided to allow non-serial works. That's the only definition change we're making.
Edit: These are the options we voted on. Only allowing non-serial works and renaming won, and we're probably going to end up overturning the latter.
