Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes? thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread, as do the self-demonstrating character pages.

Probably keep the New Kid where it is. If a character makes the byte minimum and has ties to more than one page, it's just more convenient to keep them separate.
La Squadra's split off. I'll do some calculations for Stardust Crusaders a little later.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.Okay, so here are my calculations for Characters.Jojos Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders.
- Allies sums up to only 13,413 bytes.
- None of the character folders exceed 40,000 bytes, with Hol Horse being the closest at 39,091 bytes.
- Others sums up to only 14,124 bytes.
- Tarot Stand Users sums up to 186,592 bytes.
- DIO's Household sums up to 32,535 bytes.
At first, there doesn't seem to be an easy answer. The page currently sits at 260,426 bytes, and splitting off the Tarot Users would leave it with 73,834 bytes, which is reasonably small for a character page. That, and every other section is too small to split off. However, I have a solution. As it stands, DIO's Household is too small to split off. However, that only includes Kenny G., Vanilla Ice, and Nukesaku. If it were to include the character folders for Hol Horse, Enya the Hag, and both Pet Shop and Telence T. D'Arby from the Egypt 9 Glory Gods page, it would combine to make 126,572 bytes, which is completely in reason for a subpage. All that'd need to be done is have those four's folders redirect to DIO's Household. Does anyone else approve of this idea?
Here's a sandbox for reference.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve. Can someone merge back the rest of the Total Drama characters?
That could work. Although, technically, even though 73k is relatively small, it's still comfortably above the limit.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM Drafts- South Park: Elementary School Staff (69,931 bytes)
- South Park: Herbert Garrison (51,829 bytes)
I feel like I see this can be merged.

There's probably a LOT there that can be merged. Merging Randy back into South Park: Family Members would still be under 200k characters.

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectBumping. And before someone asks, I'm planning on having the Diamond trio and the General Diamond authority page seperate (while also having Pink Diamond's page seperate as well).
She/Her | Currently cleaning Char CloneI decided to go ahead and split off DIO's Household. Stardust Crusaders has been dropped down to 175,640 bytes as a result.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.~Nononsensecapeesh split off Characters.Dot And The Kangaroo Dot from Characters.Dot And The Kangaroo. It seems wayyyy too short (and is unindexed).
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessA definite merge back
All of Total Drama's CSP have now been merged back, and this time without any errors.
Okay. Guys I can't merge Garison right now due to heading into a surgery. It will probably be Friday when I get the chance to.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadCurrently The latter half of the seventh generation of Pokémon sits at 174,594 characters the cosmog line is at a scant 31,493 characters Necrozma is at 75,519 characters. Should the cosmog line and necrozma be added back? Or should they be somehow combined into their own page? idk if there's any official term for the three of them, but i figure the latter option would be for the best to not overinflate the generation.
- Characters.League Of Legends K
- Characters.League Of Legends P To R
- Characters.League Of Legends V To W
There are these three League pages that are getting way too big as they are; each over 250k. Someone already went and split a page to make two ~100k pages. These three however make for very inelegant splits and may need some working around with.
Most of the K characters have names starting with "Ka" and wouldn't split evenly by size; All the champs starting with R could maybe get a page, leaving P-Q with about 80k; there's only two champs with W-names. Maybe they could be merged with X-Y to create "W-Y"? "V" would then be ~210k.

Character Specific Page cleanupAdding Kill la Kill - Nui Harime to Kill la Kill - Kiryuin Conglomerate makes the latter about 130k characters.
Kill la Kill - Main Characters is 53.6k; Kill La Kill - Satsuki Kiryuin is just under 60k. That's 113k+. Even adding back Kill la Kill - Ryuko Matoi's 125k+ is still 238k or so.
EDIT: Kim Possible - Team Possible can easily absorb Kim Possible - Ron Stoppable and still be under 95k.
I'll do that tomorrow, but let me know what your thoughts are on merging Ryuko.
Edited by ACW on Mar 27th 2024 at 6:14:55 AM
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsAgree with all the merges. Except Ryuko for now
Anyone have thoughts about LoL?
I also made a byte count page a while back to help: League Of Legends Champ Byte Count

Character Specific Page cleanup@idkanycoolname Merge the Cosmog line but keep Necrozma. If the Gen 7 line of Pokemon have to be split up then that's already an admission that whichever folder hits the 40k mark deserves their own page.
is done. Ryuko's fine by herself for now.

So, what do we want to do with the New Kid and am I good to cut list South Park Video Game Characters since it ended up to big?
